I missed all but the pen, decided the game wasn't worth watching, went for a swim instead. Must have tuned in about a minute after Egypt's third goal. USA v Italy better be good.

Been quite a good little tourney so far hasn't it. Proof perhaps that the world cup could maybe be trimmed down a *tad*, and you wouldn't get so many second rate games...

Italy have definitely aged over the last three years. 2006 was their zenith, and whilst I could drool over Pirlo's play all day long, their youngsters haven't fully stepped up to the international stage. Rossi did look impressive when he came on, albeit against tired legs, but De Rossi's never really impressed me when I've watched him for club or country. They're also lacking a proven international centre forward, or even a second striker in the Baggio, Del Piero, Totti mould.
Shame Santon didn't play because he looked so confident against Northern Ireland last week.

I found the video of the US player Ricardo Clarke kicking some other MLS player resulting in him getting banned for 9 games. The BBC commentators mentioned it in the 1st half, and it is pretty bad! Just whacks him in the chops for no apparent reason. Ouch! Don't think it was a dive!
