Oh, saying that though, found an ok bar at the bottom of the strip which was in the theme of like, a buddha palace with bright sofa's and the like, everywhere. They also have some good live music there too. Cant remember what it was called though. Anyone?

But DO try the fish... mmmm!

Keep away from Albufeira...

Tavira, & the eastern end is great, or head up into Monchique & the mountains, Loule, Estoi(the old villa & roman ruins http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estoi ) & Silves.

The beaches at the eastern end are not on the mainland, there are lagoons between the land and dunes/sand spits, but you can cross over, some bridges or ferries.... & the beaches are great & go on for miles. Great seafood.

Faro is nice laid back town, sit & have a galao in the old part...

Hire a car, or use the train... get from one end of the algarve to the other in a morning...

The restarant Portofino, although comparatively pricey for the area, is bloody superb too. Definitely worth it for a Portuguese blow out.

I went in May 06 & had a great time. Weather hot but not too hot for Lil'FA, beaches fantastic, nice people, good food. We were just west of Albufeira.

I know where that is - there's a bar just beyond those wooden steps, with loads of balsa wood boats hanging from the ceiling!

Very nice bar... especially at sunset.
