my mate had one of them!(or somesort of mega pc thingy if there was more then 1)

to be honest it seemed to do the job fairly well.

yeah, thats right, the mega drive innards were just in the same box as the pc and they shared the same monitor port (couldn't plug into the tv)

there was also the Sega TeraDrive which was a similar offering in Japan I just discovered
 
yeah which was a bit lame as you had to turn off the pc to use the mega drive.

But yeah essentially just a normal pc and a normal megadrive in the same housing.

If we are looking at systems insead of just hardware, how about:

The ID card scheme. I beleive that the first readers will be available some time in 2010.

The new NHS IT system which is a tad over budget and slightly behind its timetable
