The 06/07 Fourth Division (league 2) Thread!!!

He was out for quite a bit at the end of last season, with recurrent groin strain, and left the pre-season training at RAF Honington with the same trouble.

Still, he scored plenty of goals last season as well. Grimsby seem to have a tradition of losing their best players at the end of each season, usually because they get relegated but this year it was because they didn't quite get promoted.

Last night, Town managed to lose 3-0 to Wrexham, Reddy played for the first half (until they were 2-0 down), Bore for the 2nd. Not good at all.

See, we need a striker more than anything in the world - d'ya reckon he'd cut in L1?

The Cod Almighty guys seem to think he's a Championship-level player, so yes, he'd do the job. He's been substituted in both of our first two matches, so doubts remain as to his fitness (or attitude)..

Not sure we need a striker with an attitude problem, already got Keigan Parker shagging, drinking and stropping his way round the pitch. Well, not shagging and drinking on the pitch obviously, that would be more than alarming.

Another 3 points away, and 2 goals in stoppage time. Total turnaround from last year when we kept letting them in. 7 from 9 so far, great start for us.:D

our first points of the season at home to grimsby

apparently agogo's off to Forest this week too. considering his performances this season so far, probably just as well to cash in on him and get a cheaper replacement

Don't you just love it, the O's win again. Although away games is where things might prove difficult, but at least the confidence is there to take to those games.

Three out of three. Wasn't the most convincing win over Rochdale (who are yet to score or pick up any points this season) with the only goal apparently being a rather bizarre own goal - I say apparently as I was already in the half-time food queue. After saving two penalties on the first day of the season, a week later we manage to have two saved. The first one was a rather weak effort from Christian Roberts, while the second was a good save from Paul Evans. Didn't matter in the end though, so it's another three points for the Town, leaving us in second place on goal difference from Walsall, the only other team in the division with a 100% record. Another decent attendance too, somewere around the 6,700 mark after getting just under 7,500 on Tuesday against Barnet.

apparently, we're possibly getting grant holt in a part exchange deal for Agogo. either that, or they're also looking at ade akinfenwa from swansea. all very interesting. we've definitely had a bid from forest, and lennie lawrence is taking it to the board with his reccomendation.

e2a: although i'd be very surprised if they let holt go

we've turned down forest's bid for agogo anyway, so it doesn't look like we'll be getting a new striker anytime soon

He trained with the squad this morning according to the official site. I don't like him much either, but he's exactly the type of player we need.

another dismal loss for Rovers . I'm actually quite pissed off that MK Dons are doing so well at the moment . Lets hope they lose the rest of their games this season !

On the plus side Wycombe won again , which was nice :D

Too right. Let's hope they can keep it going. Can't remember the last time we won two in a row, let alone four!

Ince is apparently training with Town on Thursday again, with a decision expected at the end of the week.

good, but fortunate away draw

I'm relieved but quite pleased that Walsall got a 2-2 away aganist Lincoln. What pleased me most was the character of the team to come back from 2 goals down against a lively team who played the team off park in the first half. (If it was last season the team would have lost by 3 or 4 goals).

Due to the fact that too many route one balls and giving away possession to the home team. But the gaffer earned his money (pardon the pun) when he made some tactical changes on the left and right side of midfield. Thus a much more better second half, better passing on the deck. And a pleasent suprise Carlos Fanguiero (the new signing) scoring a vital goal in injury time.

2-2 result but there are some weaknesses in defence which will need to be sorted out quickly for the rest of this season. I still feel that a creative midfielder will be very useful to complement what we've got in the squad. I can't grumble with the start so far. Next match in the league is against Darlington another team tipped to do well in League 2.

Looks like we'll hear today if we're getting another drain on our resources who won't give a fuck about the club-

I hate Ince, but apart from walking out on West Ham, I can't think of a club Ince hasn't given 100% too - and he was very commited up till then. (Man U, Liverpool, Inter, Wolves) - think he was pretty popular at all of them.

Might do a job for you, who knows.

He turned down a big money move to go to wolves. That shows loyality from the off. Who wouldn't leave west ham for man u (cough *chelsea* cough). He was hated at inter until he showed them the goods and then they hailed him as a hero. But he left there while his star still shone. Wherever he went he gave 100%. Wolves managers are a bit like england managers - they don't have too long a honeymoon period, before the knives are out.
I wish him all the best.

It was the way he left more than the fact he did that irded the 'appy 'ammers, he played it through the papers irc, having a photo taken in a Utd shirt before he'd signed and stuff.
Ince isn't the Wolves manager muser, that's Mick Mcarthy.

Same with Wise and Poyet. I can only think that Bill Power is bankrolling their salaries out of his own pocket. Don't know if they'd be there if he asn't around.
