The catchphrase stuff and the costumes did actually contrast interestingly with extras. I dont know if that was intentional. Which kind of makes it funnier.
I just dread it being like Little Britain, which simple repetition of an unfunny line generate national fervour. However a lot of the sketches seemed short enough to make me suspect they won't do that.

on the radio, they did have a few repeating characters - like the snooker commentators - but it wasn't very catchphrase-dependent ("oh, that was a bad miss.. " aside)

Yeah, that was good, this week it was about drink, next week it might be when they start making homo-erotic commentary. Which was hilarious on the radio.
