That Mitchell and Webb Look

Numberwang made me laugh. I was pleasantly surprised on the whole, but I was pissed

Yeah that had me and my flatmate cracking up! Did anyone else think that and the panel skit was a blatant rip off of Chris Morris/Day Today?

It was a bit hit and miss but when it was funny it was brilliant...hope this doesn't mean the end of Peep Show though becuase that is far better.

apparently so..

Big Talk was like some sub Day Today panel idea without any intelligence or any funny lines. .

:p

Thought it was pretty hit and miss. The Nazis and the waiter were good but the posh tramp thing was embarrassingly bad. The problem for me is I think Mitchell is quite sharp and funny but Webb just hasn't got it - far too overstated, like some bad sitcom.

I think they compliment each other tbh, I couldn't see how any of their jokes would work without the other reacting off it...the Muslim joke cracked me up.

The sketch about spouse replacement insurance was fucking hilarious. Especially the bit where he walked across the childrens playground with the caption June Whitfield on the screen. double:D

"New mummy doesn't make me do my homework"
"That's because she can't read darling!"

:D

I thought the tramp singing his own action music was quite funny...

that was my favourite part, probably because it's what I imagine a lot of people think when they see adverts like that.

I thought it was absolute crap until the spouse replacement ad...

The tramp thing was quite funny too.

Absolutely dire...Numberwang skit has been done to death on SNL for years - although i did like the big cheque having "Chuilden in Need" crossed out.

Numberwang was done much better by Adam & Joe as Twizzlestick.

Big Talk is a good gag, but it's based on the type of show we don't have on telly anymore. It's not really a TDT rip off, the whole idea of satirising news shows started way before TDT.

Sir Digby Chicken Caesar was great but it, like a lot of the sketches, felt rushed and underdeveloped. I liked the show but it needed another rewrite to tighten things up.

However the DVD background extra bit was fucking glorious.

"I sit still for five minutes and maybe scratch my face."

"Who will watch that?"

"Freaks."

chegrimandi went to school with webb and his sister shagged him. he was obsessed with her for years apparently. he was quite funny in those days too, so i've been told.

Agreed but the delivery by the main guy was some sub-Morris shouting in the style of TDT.

Not really, he was still acting as if it was on radio. A problem which hurt a few of the sketches.

exactly. some of the characters - especially the snooker commentators - just didn't work. They were trying to create a visual setting for an audio situation and it just flopped, which is a shame because those two are among the funniest bits on the radio show.

Ditto the pisspoor James Bond routine - when they did it on the radio with Scooby Doo, it was excellent.

I agree, but with a few tweaks the show can make a home for itself on TV.

oh, yeh, i'm not writing it off - they are talented and Mitchell especially is just very funny as a rule. But it's not there yet

it's not bad, but there's too much lifted straight from the radio..

For sure, but I don;t think I'll ever get bored of the "Have you looked at our hat badges?" sketch. :D

Never heard the radio show before (I bet most viewers haven't either), so it's all fresh to me

Indeed. Never heard the radio stuff not really bothered whether this is a rehash or not...

Oh boo, I wanted to see this. I loved Peep Show (slightly obsessively), I read some reviews of this one though and they were a bit "meh", and then I went out last night anyway. What channel is it on?

Incidentally, my fave bit of Peep Show is on the series 1 dvd extras when they make the video for Jez's song. I nearly wet myself watching that.

Not bad, although it wasn't totally knock out. I missed the last couple of minutes because The Sopranos was starting and that takes priority. What I hope they don't do is recycle characters and even worse "catchphrases", despite it seemingly being the in thing in comedy currently and being very lazy and unfunny.
