I think they just make it up as they go along, tbf.

He's observant like that. Mind like a bloodhound.
Yeah prob, but to be serious for a sec, the article did make out they had had to put a lot of work and research and that into this one. I'm quite interested in it, to be honest.

EastEnders tackles paedophilia with child abuse plotline
A horrifying EastEnders plotline will see a teenage girl raped by a family member who has been grooming her for months.
Tony King, played by 34-year-old Chris Coghill, will be introduced to viewers in tonight's show. But he will soon be revealed as a paedophile who intends to abuse stepdaughter Whitney Dean, played by Shona McGarty.
In shocking scenes the 15-year-old will be abused after King, the boyfriend of Bianca Jackson, returns to live with the redhead and her children after serving a prison sentence for GBH. The plot is the latest in a series of controversial storylines which have drawn complaints from viewers.
Actor Coghill told digitialspy.co.uk that before taking the role he has sought assurances from BBC bosses that the storyline would be handled responsibly.
'We talked a lot about a backstory for Tony which had been talked through with the NSPCC,' he said.
'From talking to them and reading case studies, it became apparent that the way the story was being written was very true to life.'
King's relationship with Bianca, played by Patsy Palmer, will soon be revealed to be simply a front to hide his interest in her stepdaughter.
Coghill said: 'What's very important is that abusers do tend to groom a whole family, rather than just the victim. That's the backstory for Tony. He entered the family as a hero figure.
'He told them all that he'll look after them, even to the extent that when Bianca was pregnant with Morgan, he said that when the child was born, he'd be the father. He's actually named on Morgan's birth certificate, but clearly he's not his biological father (as the child is black).
'From the beginning, Tony was building up the picture that he was the family's saviour. So for those reasons, his relationship with Bianca gives him the cover he needs to the rest of the world.'

)haven't watched eastenders for months - but a google image search to work out who he was in shameless lead me to this article:
whitney has always seemed very attached to this bloke - i reckon the story was planned long term.
He's on the family tree on the EE site as the father so it must be true

There's a family tree for EE??![]()

more getting the ok from the NSPCC.
On a tangent: as students, my flatmates and I constructed a huge Neighbours family tree which we had on the wall and covered with a wall hanging. When a newcomer arrived in Ramsay Street, we would solemnly, and with great ceremony, ad them to the tree. It was great.

Yeah. But also, I really like the character of Whitney anyway. I think she's quite thoughtfully put together and acted.
mm - with the greatest of respect, you need to get out more.
Don't suppose you took any pictures of the family tree wall did you??![]()

But I was reading the Guardian magazine while waiting for a takeaway on Saturday night and in that it said that the storyline was thought of and planned when Bianca and the producer decided she was going to come back. Hmm.
Bianca's dad Alan, before her dad was the guy she fancied, was black so maybe that has something to do with it.

Sorry - I have become confused.
I was under the impression from this post that it was EE doing the white parents of a black child storyline that was holding your interest.
But I think it was the flappy ears actually, eh?![]()
