oh dear. i was describing the programme because i couldnt remember the name. i don't understand why 'creepily gay' is anti-gay. if i was homophobic wouldnt i just say 'gay'? if i said creepliy clever it wouldnt mean i'm saying that clever is bad

i think too much is being made of my description of the show, which if you look at it with open eyes, is fine

and i certainly don't mean gay as in bad, like that thing kids and yuppies do

If your post wasn't homophobic then seems that you don't have much of a grasp on the English language.

or that some people jump to conclusions on the intamernet

If you read your own thread then you'll find that every gay man and woman who commented here thought your thread is homophobic. I really think that should tell you something.

Obviously you feel you're right and people, many of whom have first hand experience of homophobia are wrong.

How do you feel about white people who have little or no experience with racism lecturing black people about what is and what isn't racist ?

that is the worst back out ive ever seen on here.
grow a pair of bollocks aye mate.

what you wrote was homophobic. 'creepily gay' or 'gay' it was used in a derogiotary way, either is just as bad as the other.

'creepily chinky' 'chinky' see both wrong.

He's 11 and had nothing to get out of. I asked him a question, he replied. That was it. The conversation then moved onto whether 'paki' was a bad word as one of his (asian) friends had told him it was fine to use. I just told him that other people might not see it that way. :)

Well... Perhaps it would be useful to explain to him that using "gay" in a derogatory way is the same would be useful as well...?

At 11 kids might not take much notice of things like this, but how would you like it when your son is a teenager...? At that age kids know what they are saying, and it could affect others. Other kids might not come out because they feel threatened...

The get-out would be fine for a lot of other sites, but on U75 the topic has been done to death. And yes, "creepily clever" would imply that being "clever" is bad. Ie, that creepily clever show : Mastermind...

:D:D

i love it when homophobes tell me im wrong to take things as homophobic.

fucking classic.

how am i wrong on all accounts? and yes i know the type of shows you are on about though i dont tend to watch them as they dont interest me.

but it doesnt matter what type of show it is, you could be talking about Brookside for all it matters, there was no reason to use the word gay in your OP and the fact you used it in a derogatory way and LGBTQ people found it homophobic makes it homophobic.

charlie brooker does a much better job of describing it..

The programme itself is the campest example of mainstream BBC entertainment since Larry Grayson took over the Generation Game in 1978: Graham Norton, John Barrowman, and a roomful of squealing Josephs.

ffs, I can’t believe this tiresome thread is still active - the title alone has been causing me to flinch for seven fucking days. Please lets see it sent to the bin.
