It's brilliant. Fantastic video.
I liked it, but was distracted by his chest. Is that one of the things?
I searched Urban for this the other day and was pleased to find the grand total of four Gambino posts. We're so zeitgeisty!
Another track/video, although not as visually interesting, is frequently coming up in discussions and I thought I'd throw that in too, since it has no mention at all:
Gosh. I might need to watch that a few times before deciding my thoughts. Worth a watch.
Is the opening the transcript of that infamous Cosby speech?
Lucas giving background:
Watched it all the way through for the first time tonight, it's clever.
It's as good and symbolic as it is troubling. That's the point though isn't it?
It's performance poetry.
fuck off with that shit
33K like this
121K don't like this

YouTube star 'whitewashes' Childish Gambino's #ThisIsAmerica with women's edit
Nicole Arbour Refuses to Apologize for 'Dear Fat People' YouTube ...
That was the point numpty.
I do think it is shit/lame to be either spoofing or memeing this video. I suppose, tho, when someone makes something unique and great there are always talentless people who feel the need to try to get in on it somehow, to try to distract themselves from the certainty that they are never going to create anything original of worth themselves.
post some fucking context then
If by one of the things it's a Fela Kuti reference, he's wearing Confederate army trousers, there's the Jim Crow dance moves, and the general fetishization of the black body both in slavery and as one of the few ways for black economic advancement within entertainment - which serves as a distraction - in American culture.
What an astonishing video. It's genuinely brilliant. I watched it with no prior knowledge, even of who he was let alone what was in it. Glad I did, if glad's the word.
I'd no idea about Childish Gambino till now, good film, this is another thanks for sharing moment.
That was... Intense. Disturbing. Timely and powerful.
You understand that the concept of the video is about hate?
Maybe do some thinking before posting?
Lol wut? Why didn't you add any context?
That is a fair question - and I apologise to you for my reaction - based on a misunderstanding - I felt that the video I posted was so problematic as to not require an explanation. I was wrong.
