That bloke in Cardiff with all the signs all over his house

A little west of the centre, on the way to Llandaff Road. Blaming the council for some evil the precise nature of which escaped me. This was about 1999. Is he still there?

This what you're talking about?

Think he's still in situ, if the press reports are anything to go by.

KBT knows more about it, iirc, but when this came up here a while ago, the story was something like he had bought the house as an investment, and then discovered (post facto) that council grants weren't available to greedy landlords (be they Irish or not!), but rather to needy tenants. So in protest at the council's mindless refusal to funnel taxpayers money into his pocket, he did this.

But don't believe a word of what I say, this is badly recycled urban mythology atm :)

Wtf you thinking about Grangetown for when yr in much sunnier climes??

Aye, I wonder sometimes do we have a higher percentage of "odd people" here... although, if you ask me there's not enough.

Having grown up in Belfast, I was raised on a steady diet of Saturday afternoon religious wing-nuts thundering damnation down crackly megaphones at bored & wet shoppers (or those brave enough to brave the centre of Belfast). So Cardiff seems quite sane generally :)

that house has been cleared now and the boards are off.
it's about 1min walk from me

Yeah, a lot of people think cos it's a pretty mixed race area it's some sort of mad ghetto, which isn't true at all. Sure it has it's moments, but so does everywhere else in Cardiff. Parts of Ely would scare me a lot more than Riverside.

I love riverside, its tops, i dont live there, im in col and zog territoty, but i've had some pretty far out times in riverside....

maybe it was the drugs though:o

Doesn't one of the Manic's live in that square down near the house with posters up. It's alright around there if you don't mind ladies of the night...

one of the furries lives round here and high contrast allegedly

Best thing was when he was ordered to take the signs down, he took them inside and put them up against the window:) , until the council put a stop to that too.

There's also a bloke on a roof in Barry protesting over some such planning permission ( bet he's fucking soaked tonight )

 RB
i remember u were gonna do a write up on it, did ya?

will try and take some pics of the house tomorrow and post up

There's a bloke down the road from me who has one sign up in one window in a very similar style. I thought he was mad, but this is plain bonkers. Whoever is doing this, I hope they get out the house, because if they don't they'll start suffering a serious case a vitamin D deficiency.

EDIT: Looks kind of cool at the same time though. Like installation art.
