What about actions that aid in the rescue of other hostages? Would that make them "hypocrytes"?TAE said:...anything that condones the use of force in that situation would have made them into instant hypocrytes...

The three peace activists freed by an SAS-led coalition force after being held hostage in Iraq for four months refused to co-operate fully with an intelligence unit sent to debrief them, a security source claimed yesterday.
The claim has infuriated those searching for other hostages.

If the military wants thanks for saving human life, what do they want for destroying it?Backatcha Bandit said:Ahh. You're back. I trust you washed your hands.
Maybe they should have 'debriefed' the hostages harder...

Not that you really need them, obviously.First of all, sorry about the second 'y' - that should, of course, have been an 'i'. My mistake.rogue yam said:What about actions that aid in the rescue of other hostages? Would that make them "hypocrytes"?

Good point, and one that neatly exposes the double game these leftists are playing. They go over there for the purpose of propagandizing against the war, knowing that this puts them in harm's way. Then when some of them get snatched, they publicly bemoan the "descent into chaos" and the "hopelessness" of the Coalition's cause that their kidnapping supposedly represents. Then, if rescued, this is one more opportunity to bemoan "violence" (as if all violent acts are morally and tactically equivalent) and call for unilateral surrender by the Coalition. They should at the very least be billed for the costs of their rescue and the monies so collected should then ostentatiously be used to buy more bullets for our troops. "Yeah, we got yer 'pacifism' right here! Locked and loaded, hippies!"Johnny Canuck2 said:As someone suggested in the Belmont Club site, next time one of these CPTers is kidnapped, the best way to ensure no rescue attempt, and thus no endangering of human life, is for the CPT to NOT go public with the fact of the kidnapping. That way, the Coalition won't know about it, and no rescue will be attempted. As an added bonus, the martyrdom of the CPT members will be complete, and will be witnessed only by the One who really matters to them: God.
