It would certainly be child-friendly up to and including Tilbury Fort. There's lots of interesting things for kids with inquisitive minds to see and ask about: around Gravesend, the ferry trip, feral ponies which lurk on heathland by the World's End pub and of course the fort itself.
Beyond that the walk takes an isolated and somewhat desolate turn. The path is rough and brambly in places and continues for around 5 or 6 miles to East Tilbury itself. It is then around another mile inland to the train station.
Why not consider coming at least as far as Tilbury Fort and see what your young 'un thinks?
paolo999: It would be nice to have you along if you can make it.
I finish at 1 in Woolwich. Would it be possible to meet you in Gravesend? What time will you be there till? I might drive to Gravesend and get the ferry back there afterwards.
Friend of mine brought an eleven year old on another Thames Estuary walk I did in February this year. He enjoyed it a lot I was quite impressed. It was a longer walk than this one but no problemo.

Would direct people's attention to this parallel thread on the Community Forum. Would be helpful if any further posts could be made there alone, the hour draws near.
