tfl road users' survey on motorcycles in bus lanes

I really hate being told how to cycle by others so I never even mention it to people who pull out in front of you. I try to pre-empt it, hence saving the bother of saying "it'll help if you look before you pull out into traffic, you knob!"

:)

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks and says this.

You are. Currently it's illegal for a motorbike or car to enter these boxes, with a £60 fixed penalty and 3 points on offer for offenders - though I don't know of anyone ever being punished for this. It's a TfL issue so I'm surprised they're not using CCTV to stamp out this dangerous activity generate more revenue.

There are plans afoot (so I was told by Police officers on a BikeSafe training day in Sept) to split the ASL box in two, with the LHS being for cycles and the RHS for ptws. They didn't know if this would happen in our lifetime...

I got told off by a cyclist for sitting on one of these boxes, something along the lines of

"your bike is very quiet"
"oh cool, yep these 4 strokes are"
"Doesn't mean you use this box"

Then I watched the same cyclist buzz through two red lights going around the outside of traffic and nearly take an oncoming motorcyclist of his bike.

He's still got a point.

You shouldn't be in there.

personally I'm against it as I've had more than a few experiences of motorbikes flying past me at +40mph within a hairs breadth. A significant amount of them seam to think that having an open lane means they can drive like it’s a grande pre
Evolution will sort that out, just hope they don't take anyone else out when the inevitable happens.

All the same, you don't condem the majority for the sins of a few.

If no one takes the piss then all riders can benefit. And there needs to be consistant enforcement for the more selfish members of both camps.
