It's interesting to muse on the notion the rationale for occupying Afghanistan is it denies refuge and training camps to Al-Quada, and here's this lot on Al-Quada package tours to Pakistan.

One of the things that intrigues me about this case is how the security services initially got the lead to focus on these perpetrators.

I expect that is classified and we may never know.

From what I have read I think that they got onto them due to one of the ring leaders having his hold luggage searched after he returned from a trip to Pakistan and he was found to have bought back a load of batteries and a lot of packets of a sweet drink that can be used as part of a home made bomb. The batteries were of interest because unlike batteries sold in the West these ones can be opened up and 'refuelled' (not sure if thats the technical term) but once again these are known to be used to construct home made bombs.

And from what they are also saying there would have been links to other known terrorists via those spiderweb things they do with mobile phone sim cards linking all the calls so I would assume that these people were on the radar already.

Personally I would punish the fuckers by making walk from London to Croatia and then back again and bring me back the 10 litres of Olive Oil and home made wine and grappa I used to fly back home with a couple of times a year. Tossers.

And I would have thought the biggest irritation (cause) between muslims and the west is Palestine / Israel, about which we have heard little these past months.
