'Terror plane bomb plot' accused admit to conspiring to cause explosions

So when these fugly bastards aren't doing their sky pixie bit, beating their wives, or mutilating genitals they're plotting to make bombs and even have a front to suggest it was all a jolly little joke.

They were busy with all that and still could plot to make bombs?
Is it something in the air in the UK that makes people so over-active or do they suffer from ADHD?

salaam.

The whole current love in between the far left and extremist Islamic groups is something that can only be seen as making sense in terms of the old adage, 'my enemies enemy' and all that old pony.

It always causes me to chuckle when I see SWP types marching side by side with people who would happily stone homosexuals to death and stop girls from being educated.

Political expediency can make for some strange bedfellows.

Before getting round to executing the homosexuals, the Islamists first execute the Commies. Dhimmi-Trots are not just disgusting or funny, according to taste. The are suicidal. We must hope they don't start blowing themselves up, like their braver (but murderous) Slamist heroes.

Aye, I was trying to look up the date the trial started and the number of days it had sat - but news outlets in these islands are being careful about contempt of court and not linking to earlier stories...

Andy Hayman's book can now go back on the shelves.;)

Good work police and M15 on this one.

There's a whole backstory that is too complicated to cover even in a 14 minutes Newsnight special. I wonder if it will ever come out?

Well done to the security services for this. A lot of people are ever so eager to knock them when they get it wrong but how many lives did they save on this one?

Yep: the security services did a fantastic time catching these fucking cunts.

They were just picking on Muslims. If they were at all fair-minded, they would have arrested equal numbers Methodists, Mormons and Moonies.

Although not of the far left myself. I did used to like their anti religion stance, with their belief that religion was used by the state to control the people.

Since the Respect thingy, religion seems to have gone off the attack radar of the far left
in fear of offending the Muslims.

Now with trials such as this, I hope the left again puts all religions in their crosshairs.

derailing the thread slightly but I am doing an article for a local mag about roman catholics and they have told me not to criticize the catholic church too much for fear of offending the readership.

If you make the mistake of mentioning that Christianity is a load of old bollocks and calling Catholic priests a bunch of nonsing alkies, you are unlikely to be murdered. Fuck it, you're safe. The worst they will do is to decline to publish your piece. If you have it published elsewhere, no pasa nada. Embassies will not be burnt to the ground. There will be no riots. No one will be killed. There'll be no screaming mobs, no one calling for your imprisonment or stoning.

Papes, eh? They're just not serious. In the good old days, they'd have tortured you with strange iron things and then burnt you at the stake.

I think events are unfolding rapidly in this story.
I read the article in The Guardian this morning.

Bit drunk, will quitely digest this thread, purpose of post need to subscribe :D

teh MI5 are focusing most of their attentions on "BritPak" suspects these days - this case cost something like £100M all in - serious manpower

Probabaly the only UK based organisation that is aggresively recruiting these days - sign of the times.

Was there any information about which transatlantic flights they planned to bomb?

Were they flag carriers like BA or the american version or did they also include Virgin Atlantic?

from the bbc

Thanks NBE

I have a policy of trying not to fly flag carriers like BA or AA .. preferring easyjet or Virgin. Part of my justification is that I believe non flag airlines are less likely to be targetted by terrorists.

One of the things that intrigues me about this case is how the security services initially got the lead to focus on these perpetrators.

I expect that is classified and we may never know.

Hope these twats get their comeuppance in prison. It's because of them I wasn't allowed to bring some honey back from Greece last summer.

AA and suchlike IIRC, all North Merica ones, incl. Air Canada for some reason

It doesn't surprise me that Air Canada was being targeted. Canada is in Afghanistan and, from time to time, we hear "Death to Canada".

Every so often, it's nice when the "good guys" win - congrats to your intelligence networks.

Wow - they stopped you???

My daughter was transporting maple syrup during that time. It was homemade, so it was in a glass jar. She was told to drink some of it to prove it really was maple syrup.

She did and was allowed to take it on board.

the usual way by all accounts

theres too much data / info out there for random ID of suspect initially

I think it stemmed from surveillance of a suspect in another case (the failed 21/07/2005 tube bombings IIRC), who was linked with one of the lucozade bottle gang after meeting him at a 'training camp' in Pakistan.
