Well, to be fair, either Samantha Morton or Tilda Swinton would be better than the pish that some people have suggested. Ricky Fucking Gervais? I ask you...

Weird, I was talking with a friend the other day and when discussing who could possibly pull off playing a female doctor she suggested Tilda Swinton too !

in todays metro , there was an interview with Russle T davis , who said that it hadnt been decided yet and that he didnt even know who was auditioning for it. Could all be a ruse tho....

Well, he has bugger-all to do with it, it's Steven Moffat's call. IIRC him saying that he was trying to stay as out of the loop as possible wrt Moffat's first season; he's been given the info that he needs to set things up as Moffat wants, and he's staying well away. I can't believe that he doesn't know who's taking over, though.

Saint Moffat set the bar high with Blink- I wonder if he can live up to the standard.
Well, as he's pointed out: it isn't going to be Blink every week, he was in the happy position of being able to drop in and deliver one flash episode a season. Now he's doing the whole thing, it'll be a bit more like what we've come to expect from Davies.

A lot of fanboys are champing at the bit, assuming that Davies' campery will be out the window and the show will be "darker" (the perennial hope of perpetually-adolescent fanboys). This seemingly overlooks the fact that Moffat was the guy who introduced Captain Jack and wrote the single campest moment in new Who (that bit when a pissed Doctor stumbles around going, "My God, the French can party").

well isnt the trend that the dr gets younger with each re-generation ? or is that just coincidence ??

im not really up with the who mythology

I'm pretty sure that has something to do with the shows punishing schedules and constant need to have a new young face for the next generation of viewers.

Colin Baker was shouty and crap and only really any good in Trial of a Time Lord
Well, yes. And he dressed like Ronald McDonald. But much of the blame can be laid at the then-producer's feet; Baker wanted to play the role quite subdued, wearing a black outfit. And that panto-dame prick John Nathan-Turner insisted on the stupid costume, abrasive Doctor, overlit sets, inappropriate guest stars and PISS POOR writing that killed the show off.
