Temperature at work !

it's actually a little bit TOO cold in my office today: our air con is a bit too efficient, and wearing shorts and tshirt is making me feel a bit nippy.

I'm wearing a cardigan and my feet are feeling a bit fresh...

Still, mustn't grumble, I prefer this to the heat anyday!

Too right. That's fucking ridiculous!

Can stuff like this and astral's situation not be reported to H&S ?

There's an infoline: 0845 345 0055

I read in the Guardian today that tarmac roads were melting, the Dept. of Health is on level three heatwave alert (one away from emergency level) and the tube + bus' temperatures were unofficially recorded at 52 C and 47 C !

It's gonna be cooler tomorrow though :)

i been working in a hot office - and some fuckers are operating an industrial woodchipper in the carpark, meaning i have to keep my window closed so people can hear me on the phone.

lets all go and work for pingu... :D

Good for you :)

I'm really starting to feel quite unwell, I've already drunk something like three litres of water today, but I'm feeling lightheaded and headachey and my visions a bit blurry.

Go outside for 5-10 minutes in a large shady spot for some air.

If you still feel bad phone NHS direct

I've done this half a dozen times today. I normally only smoke 1 or 2 cigarettes as work but my consumption has gone up as an excuse to get out of stifling office.

Now my head is starting to get hot and bothered and achey since I put fan under my desk to cool feet (although it might have something to do with whacking my head whilst under the desk) :(

I've just taken the position of doing fuck all, listening to music on the comp and pretending to work!

sit down!

Our office reached 35 on our floor and 36 upstairs, apparently at 37 the union was going to call for a walk out but that's just a rumour.

I left at 4 pm, this will be recorded as sick. I had a headache, dizzyness and was a bit tight chested.I will have a lay down and then I am going to the beach for a swim.

It hit a maximum of 43.3 degrees C today and then it leveled off to a slightly less hot 40 for the rest of the day ( the area I was working in gets the sun full on at the start of the day and acts like a greenhouse because of the fuck off big windows ) . If you factor in heavy lifting and lots of physical activity with 6 people working around each other it was fucking hot :( We did have fans , cold drinks and ice lollies ( lemon flavour ) so it wasn't too bad but that doesn't make up for lack of any kind of air conditioning ! Whats really annoying though is come winter it will be fucking freezing because there is no heating either :(

It's now 35.4 degrees in our office and the guys have officially been told they can take their ties off

I've just have a meeting with my boss, in which I raised the temperature and explained I was feeling unwell due to the heat and asked how hot it would have to be in the office before we would shut. Apparently it's company policy not to shut because of the weather as the majority of the other offices are airconditioned and she would not be allowing any of us to take holiday this week because of next weeks deadlines. x 1000.

She did say however say that we could go and work out of the Reading office (which is airconditioned) tomorrow. So long as we were there for the full working day, which would involve an extra three hours in a car (non aircon), and so long as we didn't claim expenses for the trip (as it wasn't strictly necessary).

I think that I am going to spend this evening applying for new jobs.
