Babar Luck is a good one :) He played my sister´s charity gig once for free

i saw him at the Red Stasr recently. A lovely bloke, and very charming/charismatic on stage, but i thought the music was dreadful i'm afraid (and i used to like king prawn)

Re the Prawns - I liked them too - (spits out long boring I put them on once story). But I think you need to come at his music with a different outlook - you should get hold of his album, as it's worth a listen, I think.

Then again, Dub, we often like different bands, and often like the same ones too. Vive la difference, really, it keeps music interesting.

That reminds me - I took the number of a guy called Rub who I saw playing the other day and thought he'd suit Offline. He does funny political rap/songs with a guitar. Check PMs.

last night i was djing between bands for bandwagon, and the second band on of the night, the debretts, were one of the best bands i've seen in years. musically like the yeah yeah yeahs but with less cool and more meaning-it.

(and i think i fell in love with the singer a little bit too)

also eddyfink, can be a little MOR at times but are a genuinely clever band

he's responsible for the song about george bush being an islamic fundamentalist (obviously) immic

Reginald D Hunter. Just seen his stand up show "Pride and Predjudice and Niggers" at the Edinburgh festival.

I was absolutely blown away by him. I honestly think it was the best piece of stand up comedy I've ever seen, and I'm a right comedy nerd.:o Thoughtful, philosophical and downright hilarious. I reckon he would love offline too.

oh - i was going to mention this to you tomorrow. M'sO and I saw Josie Long (comedian) at Edinburgh last week - she's completely brilliant and lives in peckham - bit of a hit of the fringe, five star reviews all over and nominated for the perrier (or whatever they're calling it these days) - wouldn't be the least surprised if she wins it.

twas her first full length fringe show - she's only 24 - but she's fucking amazing.

found out about her cos shells was reading Rob Newman's site and he thinks

I recommend that if you are going up, you should catch the exceptional Josie Long's 'Kindness and Exhuberance' at the Cafe Royal. I think it starts at 6.30pm but check the listings. You don't want to miss it. Next year you won't be able to get in.

Seconded. She was excellent, I'm sure she'd go down very well.:)

ok, after a visit to the Windmill and a very  night I have to recommend all these for different reasons:

Gary Le Strange - crazy British man with frog hat, songs include 'Under a Beef Red Sky' and 'Dawn of the Maggots'
Disco Drive - crazy loud Italians: ended up buying their cd, drummer wears funny yellow shorts
Weird Love - not crazy but pretty good, sound much better live than on myspace!

The Rubicks.

They just toured with Gary Numan.

They rock.

Google their site, they have a myspace page too...

Hobo Jones & The Junkyard Dogs

They were excellent at Beautiful Days

Very much seconded ...

Also at BD were the 3 Daft Monkeys, correctly recommended by wiskey earlier in this thread. They have been doing a vast amount of touring, but they're not London based and keen fans told me at Solfest (where the Monkeys also played) that they're resting up for the winter to do an album ...

Worth a try though.
