Tell me a film I must see

Rabbit Proof Fence is one of my favourites. It is about how the Aborigines’ were treated in Oz in the 1920's (I think) I can't quite remember the exact era in which it is set, but it is an eye opener as to just how badly they were treated :(. Very thought provoking, and an insight into the injustice they faced.

I vote for City of God too.

I finally watched Being John Malkovich the other night. Been meaning to see it for years. Pretty funny; worth the wait.

Others I can recommend, in no particular order:

Irreversible
Children of Men
28 Days Later
Little Miss Sunshine
Severance

Ooh, loads..

'Donnie Brasco' was a paricularly good one I watched recently.

Its quite a clever little film- based on a true story. Makes you think.

13 Conversations about One Thing (interlinking stories about love death and fate: way better than it sounds or it's rubbish title would suggest)
Static (Weird US indie job with a bloke who thinks he can see God in the static on his TV)
Dogs in Space (Michael Hutchence and the Aussie post-punk scene)
Der Himmel Uber Berlin/Wings of Desire (pretentious as owt but bloody gorgeous Wim Wenders meisterwerk)

The Iron Giant is the best (American) animated (with pen and ink) film ever. It's very loosely based on the Ted Hughes book and directed by Brad Bird (who went on to do The Incredibles). If the last 15 minutes or so don't make you cry, you are not human.

Oh and don't read the IMDB reviews. They spoil it a bit. Go in blind.

Yes, it's great.

"Superman!" :(

Grave of the Fireflies. It's a Studio Ghibli animation set during WWII and is extremely moving....especially considering that it's animated.
