Teenage work experience week...

My best mate did work experience at a web design firm 8 years ago, they were so impressed they gave him a part time job, then full time for 5 years. He was earning $100/hr in Auz recently.

All from work experience. Reckon he would be a binman otherwise.

I did two weeks at an internet company in Wilmslow a good few years ago, when the internet wasn't nearly as prevalent. It was actually good fun; I did some work that actually went live on the website of a big Manchester insurance firm, which was incredibly exciting at the time they paid me at the end of it as well!

I agree with the posts above about the stuff the school gave you if you didn't set it up yourself, though. What precisely is the point of two weeks work experience in McDonalds or Tescos, apart from to give McDonalds and Tescos some free labour?

I always asked the kids that came into our office that were doing filing "Do you like filing?" they would always say "no, its crap", and i would then say "well, figure out what you want to do when you leave school, or you will probably end up doing filing". I like to think i made them think a bit about the horror of mundane jobs

I did 2 weeks work experience at the TV production company that made The Big Breakfast. It was great. I got in Paula Yate's way. She tutted impatiently at me.

We usually get 2 weeks up here...i worked at a special needs school it was really rewarding.
I supoose what you put into it, is what you get out of it.
