Team Boris: Lifestyles of the Rich and Infamous

Dead boy in Hither Green on Saturday.

Dead man in Oxford Street on Monday.

Boris' "war on knife crime" seems to be working a treat...

You seriously think that only two weeks in will cause a dramatic turn around?

If you really think that knife crime is solely the Mayors fault then you should blame Ken for 8 years of allowing it to get to this.

Which company does he have shares in? Isn't it one of the transport ones?

He has chairmanship of Jarvis, an engineering group responsible for rail maintenance. They accepted liability, along with Network Rail, for the Potters Bar crash, it's all in the link.

If Johnson goes ahead with this appointment it'll be an absolute disgrace.

Yeah realised that after posting...and yep it will be. Surprised Team Boris are allowing this given their acute pr antennae. Wonder if anything will be made of this media wise?

tbh, as much as they're all a bunch of cunts, at least he does have some previous experience of transport.

altho you'd have thought that his track record may have precluded him from such a role......

sorry, i'll get my coat.....

Steve is now a director of a number of quoted and private companies including non-executive chairman of Jarvis plc, director of ITIS Holdings plc and Survey Inspection Systems Ltd. He advises a number of blue chip clients on public affairs issues with special emphasis on transport and the built environment. He was Chairman of the National Cycling Strategy Board from 2001-2004 and is President of the Motor Cycle Industry Association.

I recall Jeremy Hardy once quipping that the likes of Jarvis applied the phrase "paper over the cracks" quite literally to their maintenance work.

? seriously don't think a white Old Etonian is going to crack black on black n ife crime, no.

The difference is, Boris promised he would. Ken knew it went deeper than more cops and metal detctors. Boris has made a rod for his own back.

Sorry KBJ, but that just makes Johnson sound like the re-incarnation of Princess Di. :D Maybe he's going to channel her.

Blond(e), privately educated, bit thick, enjoys extra-marital sex...

I can't see how you're connecting the two... :p

The new Private Eye tells me Johnson has recuited three people from Westminster City Council.

Can't remember the names right now, but the guy in charge of housing policy is one of the people who, in 1989, voted to house the homeless in asbestos-ridden accomodation.

Simon Milton - I've got the current issue in front of me :D

Another day another back peddle on things Bojo said to get elected:

Boris Johnson: Routemasters may never be built

In an extraordinary announcement, Boris Johnson's new transport advisor admitted that the new generation of Routemaster buses may never be built at all.

The Mayor's Director of Transport Policy Kulveer Ranger told the Evening Standard that:
"The plan is to have them on the roads by the end of his first term but we're not doing this just for the hell of it. If we find there are initially no suitable bids we will review [the policy]."
Even if a new generation of buses are built, Ranger admitted that they would be unlikely to follow the Routemaster design. According to the Standard:
"The new design would not necessarily be "hopon, hop-off" with a conductor, as on the old Routemasters. (Ranger) said: "Whether or not we have a conductor depends on the design of the bus. We want people to be creative. Our brief is very flexible."
Now call me pedantic but I would have thought that the brief to 'build a new generation of Routemasters' was not a particularly flexible one and would at the very least involve building a bus with an open back.

more stupid Boris photos

Also -

I don't know what this Ray chap is like that he's got to prioritise black schooling, but I've been to his Eastside Academy in West Ham (IDS and Cameron used to visit it) and I found it deeply unpleasant - a proper US-style army boot camp.

Tbh, it sends out the wrong message: all youth are to be treated as potential criminals. The solution to this is to use a former prison governor to formulate a 'youth policy'. It's a little like getting Rosemary West to advise on family matters.

You could ask the same question as regarding relevance to the work of the GLA of Livingstone inviting the racist nutter Qaradawi to City Hall. I'd rather have someone like Brocket speaking than an antisemitic loon like Qaradawi.

I know who I think does the most damage to London and it aint an aristocratic fraudster.

Laughable. Truly laughable.
