Taking Spook to the vets today

Awrr I'm glad she got another week, it's so hard deciding when enough is enough, thoughts are with you mate. :(

You've done the right thing by letting Spook go, you know. It wouldn't have been right to let Spook suffer unnecessarily, so taking him/her to the vet was the only really humane option, IMHO.

Nobody likes having to say goodbye to a beloved family member and pet. I certainly haven't and I've been involved in it more than once. But don't beat yourselves up about it or feel guilty as it was the right thing to do and Spook isn't suffering any more now.

It's a tough call to have to make, but you've done what was right and necessary. My sympathies.

RIP Spook :( She looked a feisty cat and very pretty. Best decision, you hung on as long as you could and gave her extra time and love with you. But there comes a point.

Hope you're both as OK as possible. Some lovely photos and memories there.

Thanks everyone. I know we did the right thing, she started to lose the use of her back legs and it was breaking my heart to see her wobbling around.

The vet said he would have done the same had she been his cat, and it was very quick and painless.

Weirdly though, in the pub we were reminiscing and I said I wish I was still in touch with my friend, who gave her to me when she was a kitten. When I got in, I had a Facebook friend request and it was him. So weird.

Anyway, I feel relieved and although I am sad, glad that it's over.

Sorry to hear about Spook :(

I have a back cat and I think they are the most ill-tempered of the lot. Two green dots at one end, a pink dot at the other and the middle is just a razor-sharp scrappy vortex of doom
