Matos and his coach were almost immediately slapped with a lifetime ban from all World Taekwondo Federation championships for the outburst,
which the WTF called "a strong violation of the spirit of taekwondo and the Olympics."

"He was too strict," Cuban coach Leudis Gonzalez said of the judge. Gonzalez offered no apology for the actions of Matos,
who may also face questioning from Chinese police and Olympic security officials.

Dickhead. He deserves to be arrested.

A thought occurred to me yesterday, the british lad spent a lot of time adjusting his shin pad whilst the clock was ticking - looked like it kept coming loose.

If he had properly fitting padding, he would have had more time to fight & perhaps close that gap.

The clock stops for time-outs, which they can call to adjust their gear.

I'm sure that i've heard on the radio (5 Live) saturday evening that Matos the Cuban in the Tae Kwon do heavyweaight division and his coach have been banned for life by the governing body of the Korean martial art & the IOC. They sorted out the punitive punishment minutes after the incident (i think). Well that's gotta be one of the quickest punishments in sports history!

There's a split in the sport though with the rival federation called the OMG. The dispute is being referred to to the ROFL for independent arbitration

Of course the BRB (adjudicating body for professional conduct at the Olympics) didn't take long to make a decision over the Cuban's behaviour.
