T-shirts for Durham miners gala

Great Miners Think Alike followed by Fuck The BNP or some other ideologically sound sentiment.

Wasn't there a quote from some top govt. bod in the late fifties on being invited into the European Coal and Steel Alliance or something, something which would have substantially aided (?) the postwar economy along the lines of...

"I'm sorry, but the Durham Miners wouldn't wear it" :confused:

I think it was the befuddled incompetent Shinwell that said it.

It was over the EU, and that PM was a Labour one, James Ramsay MacDonald i think. However, there is a slight chance I am wrong, I do hope my memory is not playing tricks however.

McDonald was hoofed out in 1935. Atlee was PM at the time of the ECSC discussions.

I have the answer from the ever reliable google in "Socialist Parties and the Question of Europe in the 1950's" By Richard T. Griffiths

Morrison, who was acting as Prime Minister while Atlee was ill, is said to have reacted as follows when first informed of the Schuman proposal "It is no good, we cannot do it, the Durham Miners won't wear it".

I remember that Morrison was half cut at the time cos he was told over evening dinner.

Go to this page to see why Miners were a consideration in the steel negotiations;

So are there any mines left in Co. Durham or is this just like a leftie version of Disney's Main Street Electrical Parade?

I design/make tshirts for a living (not screen printing), so we use my equipment, so the costs aren't the same as in a normal situation. You're probably looking at about £4 for screen printing iirc, maybe cheaper, but couldn't say for sure as it's been a while since I checked. Don't forget the cost goes up per colour.
Do you ever use sublimation? If so, how do you find it? any good?

:rolleyes:Now that's absurd.

No it's not. By calling someone a "boring fuckwit" you demonstrated irony perfectly. Much better than that dopey Canadian bird, who thinks that rain on your wedding day is ironic. She doesn't get it at all. You clearly do.

Go to the top of the class (war).

Absurd rubbish. Get a grip/life and go on a thread where you have a)something to say, and b)are wanted. Rather than parasiting on what i started...

I went to a warehouse where they do it when I was getting my stuff serviced and got run through it/had a go, I was pretty impressed and thinking about giving it a go, I didn't get round to it as I needed to get the whole ink system etc and I knew I'd be taking time off when I was preggers (as I'm doing now) but I'd definately bear it in mind for the future, especially as it would work with some of the other gear I already have. yeah, I have to say I was pretty darn impressed. You can do coasters and mousemats and tat like that with it too :D
