System Of A Down? Fuck off...

Twat? That's you!

I understand your child like response Nino because it's hard for you to have a conversation in real time without you being able to cut and paste quotes and passages from the web and all

For me SOAD are the third part of an unbearable trio of comedy bands around at the moment. Along with The Darkness and The Streets I am bewildered that these clowns are taken seriously. I'm waiting for the punchline but things keep getting more bizarre. That cunt Skinner recently won a lyric writing prize and it wasn't from Sun readers. Makes me fucking weep.

SOAD's new single sounds like a piss take of an opera singer yodelling along to some exagerated (purely for the sake of it) thrashing guitar. I've been told it's because they used to be Albanian or something and are scared of flying.

Oh fuck, don't get me started on System of a Down. So many people I know are always going:

"System of a Down are like, totally classy, cuz they sing about politics and stuff, not like all those other, like, metal bands, who only sing about, like, dragons and demons and stuff. Yeah, yeah. Really classy.

Worthless, pretentious, whiney drivel, for stupid GrungyGothNuMetal teens (ie, most of the people I know).

And Slipknot can fuck off and die too.

There you go VP. Is that clear enough for you? And, keep out of my posting history you creep.

I'm starting to get pissed off by the way you're stalking me on these boards, you nasty little perve.

Must be sad that you can only get a hard-on for Jews.

<Applauds loudly> They can take their lightly seasoned political angle and shove it up their whiney, overrated arses for all I care.

It's just bog standard nu-metal with a couple of trite political observations. Public Enemy these arsebags aren't...

Right where you belong.

To be honest I don't think IMeMine is classy enough to be put on "ignore". Its not even up to Dr_Evil standards, and that's saying something.

The low standard of jibe and insult it deploys is akin to being bored to death by a degree educated ( :p ) old granny who insists on showing you photographs of her grandchildren..

RATM piss all over SOAD.

At least they never did that stupid faux operatic bullshit.

And what "message" do SOAD have?

"Everybody going to the party have a real good time"???

Sounds like your standard frat-party Budweiser rock to me... dressed up in that fucking daft shouty death rock that everyone's done to death now anyway.

I'm walking through your streets
Where all your money's earning
Where all your buildings crying
And clueless neckties working
Revolving fake lawn houses
Housing all your fears
Desensitized by T.V.

Overbearing advertising
God of consumers
And all your crooked pictures looking good
Mirrors filtering information through the public eye
Designed for profit sharing
Your neighbor, what a guy

Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom,
Every time you drop a bomb
You kill the god your child has born
Boom, Boom, Boom,

Modern globalization
Coupled with condemnations
Unnecessary death
Matador corporations
Puppeting your frustrations with a blinded flag
Manufacturing consent is the name of the game
The bottom line is money nobody gives a fuck

4000 hungry children
Leave us per hour from starvation
While billions are spent on bombs
Creating death showers

Boom, Boom, Boom,
Every time you drop a bomb
You kill the god your child has born

Boom, Boom, Boom,
Every time you drop a bomb
You kill the god your child has born

Boom, Boom, Boom,
Every time you drop a bomb
You kill the god your child has born

Why must we kill our own child?

Boom, Boom, Boom,
Every time you drop a bomb
You kill the god your child has born

Boom, Boom, Boom,
Every time you drop a bomb
You kill the god your child has born

Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom

yess very frat boy, lyrically...

now if you had said fucking limp biscuit, or say linken park i'd have to agree but your way off the mark here pk

i don't think that aside fromt he use of guitars that slipknot and SOAD aren't compariable at all...

edited to make sense

Am I the only person who thinks RATM are massively over-rated?

SOAD are fucking great though: anyone who doesn't like chop-souey is obviously a cunt.

actually the last Slipknot album is a cracker....I'd always kind of dismissed them as a kiddy clown band but it's a good 'un

I always found RATM sort of boring...I know it's heresy (now there's a fucking band!!!!)

no they are hopless simplistic and nearly everythign they did sound like a carbon copy of bulletin in the head good to bounce to but in reality fuck all intresting after the first min of the song... but hey they were wadical and a picture poscard band for wadicals like the manics used to be so we must like them it's like the law or summit man...

I can't profess to know much of their "important" political stance.

I'm sure someone can enlighten me further than implying that their songs are laced with irony.

But there I was half watching the TV the other night and thinking the live concert was a mix of different bands, then I heard that one track...

B.Y.O.B.

Why do they always send the poor

Barbarisms by Barbaras
With pointed heels
Victorious victories kneel
For brand new spankin' deals

Marching forward hypocritic and
Hypnotic computers
You depend on our protection
Yet you feed us lies from the tablecloth

Everybody's going to the party have a real good time
Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine

Kneeling roses disappearing into
Moses' dry mouth
Breaking into Fort Knox stealing
Our intentions

Hangers sitting dripped in oil
Crying freedom
Handed to obsoletion
Still you feed us lies from the tablecloth

Everybody's going to the party have a real good time
Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine

Everybody's going to the party have a real good time
Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine

Blast off
It's party time
And we don't live in a fascist nation

Blast off
It's party time
And where the fuck are you?

Where the fuck are you?
Where the fuck are you?

Why don't presidents fight the war?
Why do they always send the poor?

Why don't presidents fight the war?
Why do they always send the poor?

Sorry, I fail to see the sophistication in any of that, not that I could make many of the lyrics out amid all that gravelly yelling that seems to be the mode du jour among "oooh so scary!" rock bands.

It seems to be the same tripe dished up by Fred Durst types years before, and yes, he also had a "oooh so scary!" bassist in a Skeletor mask if memory serves me well.

But my main problem lies with this cunts ridiculous operatic sounding yodelling bollocks. The Barber of Seville it ain't.

Hmm, well those SOAD lyrics you posted look like they were written by an angry 15 year old who's parents JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND, OK? THEY'RE JUST IDIOT VICTIMS, YEAH!! THEY COULD NEVER UNDERSTAND ANY OF IT COS IT'S SO HARD BEING A TEENAGER TODAY!!

Chuck in a throwaway CHomslky reference for intellectua credibility and Robert's your Dad's brother...

I was getting a little tired of the wee shite. It might be temporary but then again...

Slipknot and SOAD are very different creatures musically

"ooo it all sounds the same to me"
Clive_Dunn_-_Grandad_-_small.jpg

and as for their politics...you've got the fucking lyrics there....they're not exactly cryptic!

firstly the lyrical content is far superiour to fred durst muttings (but then this isn't hard so no real qualifaction)

secondly the method employed to deleiver the lyrics is one which is in keeping with the style of music they are perfoming indeed it is much much more tightly produced and timed than say your beloved RATM in doing so it not only creates it's own groove but also combines to form a good song.

They willingness to not mine the same vain (unlike RATM - whose own pretnesicty for doing so ended with their singer walking becauise of it...) and attempt to create new and livley music each time.

there is clear a definate progression in each of the albums and so what if they sound different live or their performance looks shit on tv it's not designed to be watched in front of the goggle box...it's designed to be watched live, in the fleash most of the people who would go to SOAD concert will enjoy it becuase the live show is very good...

and you complain about this?

becuase you don't like the methods used to deleiver new music...

so really it's not about any form of talent at all but it's about your personal taste and the fact that this doesn't chime with it....

seems a little odd as a creative indivual to rubbish something purely based on somethign so trivial, doesn't really show a great deal of creative appreaciation ... it's very 6th form oh i don't like that type of music becuase it's not real music...

why should a rock band use opreatic stylings in their songs... mix new with old, mobilise others to investigate other aspects of things other than girls and boys and fucking and booze...

what kind of creative arrogance must you have in order to rubbish such and artistc expression...

to me it sounds like unthinking conceit...

Slipknot are complete, utter, mind-boggling shit, the epitomy of everything that's wrong with 90's angst-rock combined with pseudo-death-metal shouting and ridiculous costumes.

System of a Down are also complete, utter, mind-boggling shit, but masquerading as 'intelligent, thought-provoking, politically inspired music'.

If I want politics, I'll take the Exploited.

but that's the point isn't it the music is predominatly aimed at that age group of kids now given the choice would you rather have kids getting angst ridden about world politics becuase of systematic injustiaces of their own goverments or them getting angst ridden becuase muuy and daddy didn't love them enough to buy them a bike...

compare the lyrics posted up ealier with say this utter saying nothing twaddle byu linken park

In The End

(It starts with)
One thing / I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind / I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time
All I know
time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away
It’s so unreal
Didn’t look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on / but didn’t even know
Wasted it all just to
Watch you go
I kept everything inside and even though I tried / it all fell apart
What it meant to me / will eventually / be a memory / of a time when I tried
so hard

And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

One thing / I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind / I designed this rhyme
To remind myself how
I tried so hard
In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you fought with me
I’m surprised it got so (far)
Things aren’t the way they were before
You wouldn’t even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me
In the end
You kept everything inside and even though I tried / it all fell apart
What it meant to me / will eventually / be a memory / of a time when I
I tried so hard

And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter

I’ve put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this
There’s only one thing you should know
I’ve put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this
There’s only one thing you should know
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter

i know which i'd preffer my kids to get angst ridden about and it isn't the linke of a corpeate put together band design to resell teenage angst back to teens at corperate level...

Garf - those lyrics are shite though. Trite sub 6th former political nonsense, loads of repetition and the kind of head-numbingingly familiar whines only elevated into some semblence of respectability by throwing the odd random/long/made-up and bastardised word in.

Bring back Gil-Scott Heron and the kind of bands who could actually write a political song. Repeating 'Why do they always send the poor' again and again isn't exactly inspirational songwriting - where's the subtlety and insight...

So you been to school
For a year or two
And you know you’ve seen it all
In daddy’s car
Thinkin’ you’ll go far
Back east your type don’t crawl

Play ethnicky jazz
To parade your snazz
On your five grand stereo
Braggin’ that you know
How the niggers feel cold
And the slums got so much soul

It’s time to taste what you most fear
Right guard will not help you here
Brace yourself, my dear¡*

It’s a holiday in cambodia
It’s tough, kid, but it’s life
It’s a holiday in cambodia
Don’t forget to pack a wife

You’re a star-belly sneech
You suck like a leach
You want everyone to act like you
Kiss ass while you bitch
So you can get rich
But your boss gets richer off you

Well you’ll work harder
With a gun in your back
For a bowl of rice a day
Slave for soldiers
Till you starve
Then your head is skewered on a stake

Now you can go where people are one
Now you can go where they get things done
What you need, my son¡*.

Is a holiday in cambodia
Where people dress in black
A holiday in cambodia
Where you’ll kiss ass or crack

Pol pot, pol pot, pol pot, pol pot, etc¡*.

And it’s a holiday in cambodia
Where you’ll do what you’re told
A holiday in cambodia
Where the slums got so much soul

are these lyrics any less silly then anything system of a down has done???

compring them to limp bizkit is just lazy i can't see system of a down writeing anything as dire as rollin anytime soon and thank fuck for that.

well I like 'em...both of them, and I don't listen to them for the politics...if I want politics I'll read a book

that said...listening to bands like DKs Discharge Heresy etc is what got me thinking in the first place so if SOAD can make kids think then good

neither band are "mind boggling shit" you just don't like 'em...you like The Exploited :D

I take it you don't like punk then?

no maybe not but it's not aimed at you is it?

it's aimed at the large perecentage of kids in middle american whoa re going to listen to frat rock by the likes of linken park, also it's design musically to fit with the choppy riffs they use (hence my comment about their music being tight earlier) it's more about covaing the rythem of the song than about going into long winded silioques about the meaning of everything.

politcal songs don't need to have any level of sophicitacion to have a relvant impact...

give peace a chance, freedom - nelson mandela, feed the world, etc...

after all if your are in the business of producing some 3:40 of music for bitesized digestion rather than a 30 min or hour sobret then you are goign to have to limit the interactions and lyrics some what... it get's the message home, if you start educating people with simplistic slogans at some point they will look under neither to find a deeper meaning as the songs chime with event's in their own life... after all good music has the capablity of lifting you out of you current state of mind and allowing you to explore other places... whoa re oyu or pjk for that matter to say that the lyrics written are incapable of that becuase they don't chime with you...

let's see something you have written which is as concise and musically tight then we can see what basis we are working with for the vaility of your comment, eh?

most political lyrics sound shite if you write them down....

truesay - if you want politics - read a book.

SOAD have cool songs. End of.
