Sydney Airports

Air New Zealand gives you absolutely nothing (or didn't the couple of times I flew with them) - do not count on any airlin comfort freebies - BA and Quantas will provide, but you might get switched carrier at the last minute.

Exactly, which is why I said it's always best to think of them as 'extras'. I've always been lucky in the past but have never flown Air New Zealand

Yup found that, was going to do it now but can't be arsed :D Will get on to it later. Apparently if I book a ticket via a travel agent, the agent can do it on my behalf, though they'd probably charge me triple the price if I did it by myself

Have you got a frequent flyer account with anyone? If not - open one so that you can get points/airmiles for this trip, there'll be loads.

Maybe you can now, you couldn't last time a flew but that's been a while. I thought they overbooked flights as a matter of course on the assumption that a few people won't show up, that would make it hard to allocate seats.

If it's just an Air France thing I wouldn't know because I will never fly with them again.

Look waverunner:)
i'v done this journey once with a 2 year old.
once with a 4yr old
once with a (still 4) year old and in the early sicky bit of pregnancy.
once with a 1 year old and a 6 year old and pregnant.
and once ,alone, with a 1, 3, 5, and 11 year old and a few oz of Class A hidden in my fanny.
How can you have been alone with 4 kids? And were you not terrified?

Good on you! :) With so much experience, then, do you have any tips for someone who has never done a long haul flight and who cannot help the fact that her body doesn't respond well to travelling? Thank you :)

Valium is your friend:)

and yes alone with 4 kids and however many passengers etc...:p

tbh waverunner i have allways thought what a lovely relaxing journey it would be to do alone.

you get waited on, you get all the little extras to play with, movies, music, stuff to read, food, drink, strangers etc......
not too much refuel time, interesting airports.....great views.....

but you don't like long haul eh }:

i have allways thought that i would take as little as possible hand luggage, luggage in general in fact.
cos otherwise you spend all yer time taking stuff out and putting it away again.
and you are lumbered with it when you stop over,
go through passport controll, collect yer other luggage.

any thing you need, toothbrush, eye mask, slippers, blanket, etc..you can get from the stewards.
it doesn't take that long to get here, depends on what route.
its usually about 26 hours if you just do a couple of hours stop over and don't stay over night in singapore or where ever.

get some antiemetics from the dr, or chemist or whatever, ginger is good,
and get some valium, just make sure your not too groggy when you stop over.
or when you land.

Testimonies....
