SWP Party Notes: The Return

But it rather supports the claim that the SWP is dominated by students, teachers and academics.

is that not to an extent inevitable considering the political circumstances to date?

Leninism being a bourgoise ideology, perhaps?

edit: I'd be interested in MC5 elaborating on these SW paper sales that were defended in the early 90s, though.....where and when, that sort of thing.

One charge at brick lane would prob be the answer - it normally is. How that relates to anywhere else i don't know.

Well the activity (building stwc and Respect and anything else that comes along) is gonna come first obviously. But the paragraph I quoted goes on to say how important the branch meeting is for orienting the members politically within that activity. Not that different to the aproach when me and flim were still members!

Actually I read that part as being a bit defensive, a reminder to members who quite clearly have been encouraged to downgrade the SWP infrastructure for some time now - remember to have an open meeting in your district on occasion, and if there isn't anything else on, maybe you should have a branch meeting...

Right, you read that in the two minutes you had available?
actually, compared to anyone who has 'read' it from my blog - two minutes is ages!

It did happen in a Northern City, just take my word for it.

I did a papersale there in 1978. At that time, in that street it was no picnic. :p

blimey, Belboid you have clear records of who looked at your blog, i really didn't think it was that easy and open, anyone could set up a 'honeypot' as it were to attract enemies for instance.

It may have happened, once.

However, the notion that it happened with any regularity, had the sanction of the CC, that it was in any way "policy" is, quite frankly, laughable.

There was a policy at the time - it was to both deny that the attacks were happening and/or to refuse to keep branches and members informed of the same. Such a policy meant that not even the most basic avoidance tactics were put in place, let alone any preparations for self-defence.

And on those occasions where members themselves became aware that there was an actual pattern and likelihood of attacks and then went on to communicate this to other members, those same people were rubbished and labeled as "squadists" - even where their efforts were directed solely at avoidance tactics.

The behaviour of the party's leadership at the time was nothing short of criminal.

You've never used a rhetorical flourish in your life, have you Donna?

Besides, I'm sure you're aware that the word "criminal" can be used entirely legitimately other than in the purely legalistic sense....

isn't that just the same group of people? lindsay running between the stalls?

Will there be a Multiple Personality Disorder stall as well?

I know MPD almost certainly doesn't exist in the classically claimed sense, before anyone comes over all can't-call-them-differently-sane

I am, but I'm equally sure that its rhetorical usage is more often an exaggeration than it is not.

dont give the game away!

it is disturbungly fascinating looking at some of the stats, if only to try and work out why there are so many 0 second visits (of which at least two are mine). Tho I also think I know what OS & browser Sorry is using now! And, only one hit from Brixton so far..god the info is endlessly fascinating.

AND, apparently the blog is `a valuable public service` apparently!

...so you left?

it was happening to us in a northern town for a couple of weeks in the late eighties till one comrade phoned a 'mad' mate who brought down a crew armed with chair legs...

so, the nazis turned up and promptly got a kickin...needless to say they didnt come again and we didnt inform the cc...

so what?

I couldn't find my access from school, which was very soon after you put it up.
