EVERY swoppy i knew ( and i knew a few! as in many ) in the mid/late 8ts did this

umm you know i am not sure .. i think they genuinely believe whta they do is correct! SOMETIMES they deliberately shut groups down ( Hackney Fightback in the 1990s) other times they try to take over ( Polltax) and other times they deliberately destroy as they can NOT control .. but they times they all run down with the placards chanting whatver i really think they think what they are doing is importantau contrairethey have EVERY fucking idea how damaging their actions are

Look, if you can't even admit that a large chunk of the membership is made up of students rmp3 then why should we trust anything else you say about the SWP? (Not that anyone actually does btw) We've got SWP posters on here who've left university 5, 6, 7 years ago whose poltial horizon is still limited to campus politics.

back in 2000 when the swp were clambering onto the anti-cap bandwagon, they took a trip to prague, not to join the main demo against the imf do, but to have a quick shuffle about the town on their own and then fucked off back to london. how's that anything but divisive? what about when the swc handed over anarchists to the police? fuck it, rmp3, your every post proves the dishonesty at the heart of the swp project.

Go for it.
How much is problem escalated by these sorts of discussions though? I think really most people ‘normal’ people don’t care about the SWP or even know anything about them. This would suggest to me they are very ineffectual.
Their main communication strategy seems to be street stalls and selling newspapers, and their Marxism festival thingy. I never see them gaining any mainstream media attention or trying to engage with people on their own level. It’s like they are stuck in this quaint 1930s style of politics on the street.
They do boost numbers at other events, which can be of help to workers engaged with industrial action where external solidarity can make a big difference to morale and spirit.
Of course they have many downsides entryism, hijacking, uncompromising ideological views, that we can all moan about, but they are out campaigning and engaging with important social issues that matter.

i think that if the state wanted to create an organisation which would discredit the left, sow confusion and dissent among the revolutionary left and promote ineffective protest, they'd create something like the swp.
