sw9/sw2 controversy - addendum!

Is that the one next to Stockwell skate park - the Carling Academy or whatever it's called? Isn't that where they put on David Gray concerts and suchlike for those yuppy drug tourists TM from elsewhere...
Come back when you've got boozers and venues to match the Dogstar, JAMM, Albert, Prince, Brady's (RIP), Beehive, Canterbury, Duke of Edinburgh etc etc., out of town boy!

Nope :(

Getting errors :(

Will try from home :)
I'm getting errors too:

"HTTP ERROR: 500 java%2Elang%2ERuntimeException%3A+java%2Eio etc etc"

There's great material on that site but it's a piece of shit for usability.

HobCanning
Mango Landing
White Horse
George IV
Windy
Telegraph
Fridge
St Matthew's Church

er... *cough*

I think that's more than a match eh Minnie. And we even have other top locations in store, like the Effra for example.

When someone's putting down a long-closed pub, the quickly-closing sanitised, braytastic new incarnation of the DofE and the resolutely unfashionale (albeit lovable) Beehive as examples of SW9 'nightlife', then you know they're stretching too far...

yes, Editor is clutching at straws isn't he? ;)

Maybe he means the other Brady's (ie. Russell Hotel)?

Oh, that's been shut for years as well hasn't it? :D :p

Quaint, infrequently visited, out of town places, most of them.

We've got the Albert and I'm afraid that means game set and match to SW9!

And if you don't believe me, type in the following into Google and see what postcode comes up first every time:

Brixton
Brixton pubs
Brixton clubs
brixton nightlife

'Nuff said.

... and where was the until very recently, eh? Where was the original, eh?

They've simply followed the trend of shipping offices out to out-of-town areas.

:D

Ah, but the registry office was originally in the Town Hall. They moved it to near the cop shop so that the SW9 scummers could develop a bit of self-esteem. :p

You bunch of mardy Stockwellites!

That's only because you tourists are too lazy to walk up the Hill ;)

On that note, it's time to go and do some shopping

In Brixton High Street :o

Windmill's a great venue in spite of its windswept location, but I rarely go to the Fridge and have been to Mass even less.

I spend most of my time in the heart of real Brixton: the markets, the main shopping arcades and the best pubs (Albert), best cafes (Phoenix, Lounge) and best live venue (JAMM).

I think that in order to settle this amicably, people need to look beyond[/i[ the first 3 alphanumerics and look at the suffix details. For example, I'm SW2 way up the road past the Hob and only ever say 'Brixton' cos no one knows Tulse Hill...

yeah right! Nail bars more like ;)

meooowwwww :D

oh and first club nearest the top when you type in brixton clubs is....The Fridge

and if you type in Brixton the first business is the Soft Drink Academy but the next three are Windmill, Ritzy and Telegraph.
3-1

The boundaries of Brixton Hundred have probably not changed since 1086, when they included the following places: Battersea, Bermondsey, Camberwell, Hatcham, Lambeth, Walworth, Streatham, Barnes, Merton, Mortlake, Tooting and Wandsworth

You have to remember that the editor is physically incapable of straying more than a mile from The Albert. Anywhere outside of this area might as well be Brighton as far as he's concerned.

How would you know what the best cafes are? Your inclusion of the overpriced Phoenix with its shoddy food is an embarrasment to your so-called Brixton credentials. The Phoenix is the best cafe in the area I grant you, but both the Cafe On The Hill and Pete's Cafe by the Telegraph see off the Lounge comfortably.

As for best pubs, the Elm Park Tavern is an excellent boozer.
