Thing is people will take the job. What they dished out to taylor was far worse than sven, and people still take the job.
I'd like really though to add my voice to those who complained about the press. For me it is they who ruin our chances every time. They do nothing but hound every single fucking manager, every single one of them. They never stop, they just fuck things up every time. Here we are with an outstanding chance and we now have to put up with this piece of news.
I'm no longer placing my bet on england to win the cup. They did this to venables before a world cup too and that fucked us then.

You're right about it being a disgrace, but the tabloids won't be behind "our boys" despite their protestations to the contrary. They will spend the World Cup in their usual way; printing half-truths and untruths about the private lives of the England squad on the front pages and then griping about the squad's resulting refusal to speak to them on the back pages, without realising the irony.
I suggest the passing of new legislation to require every tabloid news and sport journalist to be imprisoned from now until the conclusion of the World Cup in order to prevent their actions.

As for venables, could well be my memory has fucked again. I thought that we were headed for the next world cup and then we lost venables and got hoddle instead. After the euros it was patent to me we had a good bunch of players with, to me, the best manager in my life. Then venables was hounded out.
But seems my timing is suspect.
But the point remains: the press are irresponsible intruding fuckers who do their best to dash our chances every single tournament year. Why do we put up with it?? I've said many times down the years we'll never win the world cup until our press are tamed.
We all know how they like to build people up so they can knock them down again, thereby making money from both the building and destroying.
Well, seems to me they do the same with expectations. They try to make us hope, then they dash our hope.
Like i said, bring in charges of treason for them, coz i know of no greater traitors.
