Support for Scottish Independence "hardens"

As we can't predict what that trigger will be, nor when it will happen, there's virtually no point in caring now, and anyone who does is essentially wasting their time unless they're a self-serving politician, either SNP or their direct opponents.
I find that a strange sentiment.

we know, and by and large we don't care :D

what'll happen is that this will rumble on for years or decades boring everyone to death until something actually happens which people do care about and the whole thing will suddenly go into sharp focus and decisions will be made based on the real balance of forces just then.

People should care. Everyone says how bad foundation hospitals are and how they don't want prescription charges. Both of those things have been ruled out in Wales and Scotland, but Scottish and Welsh MPs are voting for them to happen in England!

I support the break up of the Union, and support and a seperate English state. The WLQ is in my opinion an important issue that has been neglected. As was the situation with tuition fees etc.

I do feel sorry for the Scots though, should the Union break, can you imagine having to put up with Brown moving back and his Westminster buddies :D.

Poor bastards!

Seriously though, I think the typical Brown/Kennedy/Alexander mould of politician would take up dual citizenship and stand for seats in England.

personally I agree with you, people should care about a whole range of political issues, and the NHS is very much at the top of the list. They should certainly, IMO, prioritise services over low taxes, but (in England) it's been demonstrable over a couple of decades that they haven't and probably still don't. They should also care about constitutional issues, starting with the aristocracy and moving on to, amongst other things, the WLQ.

But they don't and they're not going to, at least sfaics.

On the list of what they care about the average English person is going to put the WLQ on about the same level as Stormont or rocksalt supplies: so long as there's no particular reason to think about it they won't. Collectyively, we've managed to think about salt for two days in 20 years... the WLQ has barely rated that much.

Sorry. Just being honest, like. I mean I know it matters to the Welsh and the Scottish, but in reality we're more likely to get worked up about constantly hearing too much about the weather in Scotland than we are about the role of Scottish MPs.
