Supermarket Home Delivery

We use Sainsburys and it's grand - my only beef is the absolutely ridiculous amount of plastic bags which they use - they do take away old ones for recycling but still it's incredibly wasteful - it is often the case that one small item like a lemon is delivered inside two carrier bags....

The drivers tell me it's a common complaint and have suggested writing to Head Office - which I have duly done but as yet have received no response.

Other than that though I love it.

(Last week I had a bonus bag containing 2 cans of Lynx deodorant and some Lynx shower gel - anyone want them?:D I don't tend to wish to smell like a boy's PE changing room these days)

I'm quite embarrassed at how excited I am that my first online food shopping delivery is coming in the next hour :o

Stig has the ocado guy coming round most weeks with a stock of beers and the odd bit of groceries. There's always a slightly tense "will he leave us enough time to get to the pub after?" about it...

I found Asda to be utterly foul. Almost every single in item in the shop I ordered from them was 1 day from expiry. When I complained, they just kept passing me around until eventually I just gave up and swore never to shop with them again.

Tesco are fine.

I've been usung Sainsbury's for a couple of years - they are the only ones who will deliver to a council estate in Camden! Never a problem, all the delivery guys are good as gold - call you if they are going to be early or late. Once they couldn't deliver until the following day and I got the lot for free! On line you can easily see all the special offers, which you often miss in the shop.

Trying to persuade my mum to do this - she gets in her car, parks it, walks around the shop putting stuff in the trolley, unloads the trolley onto the conveyer belt, pays, puts it back in the trolley, takes it to her car, unloads the trolley, drives hime, unloads the shopping and takes it indoors - that HAS to be worth £3.50 of anyone's money!

I like Ocado, there's no going back now.

It saves you loads of money, on the' wandering round spotting things you didn't know you needed' score.

there's an option on the checkout page for 'just dump the whole basket, forget it.' which makes me like them just a little bit more, as this is what I do frequently in real life supermarkets.

Not having to go inside a supermarket!

We started using Tesco just after our youngest was born as we couldn't be bothered with the hassle of small child + supermarket. Been very good, have it delivered every month and never had more than 2 substitues, which have always been fine. They have always delivered within 1/2 hour of the start of the slot, which isn't bad being as we are 10 miles from the local store.
Tried Asda once, horrid products and loads of substitues which were all "mega cheap" or what ever their own brand is, we've not used them again.

I tip them, even though I go down four flights of stairs and carry it half of it up for them.

The substitutions are hit and miss really. I've had dried kidney beans instead of tinned kidney beans. I've had powdered custard instead of ready-made custard. Bit inconvenient if you're short of milk

Sainsbury's are worse than Tesco
