Super Sunday!!!

First half was scrappy. Second half Man Utd took control and dominated.

It's a fucking Man Utd Liverpool derby of course the opening peroid is going to be scrappy, some teams require some grit and nerve, they all can't afford the luxuriously laid back manner that a vastly talented team like Newcastle can.

Actually from about the 25th minute on Man Utd began to dominate in the midfield and it stayed that way to the end, even the Liverpool TV commentators said as much.

i thought it was slightly off. described mascherano as a 'maniac.' very disappointing.
According to my dictionary, the first definition of a maniac is "a person exhibiting extreme symptoms of wild behaviour".

In the circumstances, I would suggest that the description is therefore apt.

Why did Mascherano feel the need to get involved? He was already on a booking and should have stayed well clear from the incident.

as i said that was incredibly stupid. i think it was arrogance on mascherano's part that he could talk to the ref 'on a level' ifykwim

for needlessly telling the referee how to referee the game.

is this true? is this what happened?

His actions showed clear dissent. I don't believe that you have to disrespect someone to show dissent.

And as for Mascherano's demonstrations after the sending off, I feel a hefty (and justified) ban coming.

i would have been livid as well and would have needed restraining. a referee has blown my team's chances, made me into a villain and a let down to my team mates, all because i tried to ask him what was going on. i would still be fuming...

the thing is that it wasn't just the one incident, Mascherano had giving shit to the ref about every descision about four times before that including during his first booking, he was constantly chasing after the ref to whinge, laugh, swear and mock, he then ran twenty five yards to whinge about something fuck all to do with him, he even pushed his own player out of the way to get at the ref, the ref clearly points to the tunnel and tells him to clear off or he'll walk, he continues and gets a red.

The question for me was where was Stevie G during the entire game?

i knew there had been build up but there's no convincing me that the final act was dissent. stupid but not dissent. bennett could have been much much bigger

he'd taken shit off him for near twenty minutes on every decision, and not just the usual cursing a decision but actually running after the ref to whinge and make sarcy faces, he then does it after Torres gets booked for dissent, gets warned to stfu or he'll be walking and continues to whinge like a lil bitch.

Anyway fuck him, even if it hadn't been warranted he got away unpunished against Boro, it was in the post.

i think that's a massive exaggeration

it's really not, he was being a snipey whingey lil bitch for about tweny minutes, pulling that smug face of his. They showed him at it about 4 times on MoTD2 before he finally got sent off.

And this is the other thing, he didnt get sent off for dissent, he recieved a yellow card for constant dissent, he got sent off because he already had been booked for his tackle on Scholes.

Ferdinand and Torres got booked for less yet it isn't a talking point because they weren't already on a booking.

The other thing is that Carragher should have been sent off after 8 mins and United rewarded a penalty.

What do you expect Man United to do? They played what was infront of them and beat them comfortably in a game that could have ended 6-0 if Rooney and Ronaldo had finished half their chances?

It seems to me that unless Man United thrash a side by 7, Ronaldo scores a hatrick and Rooney scores 2, they apparently 'weren't great'.

Rooney was excellent yesterday and with a bit more luck in front of goal would have had a hat trick.

Rooney bottled every chance because he is disgustingly arrogant. He cannot finish because he tries to hard to live up to the ridiculous english-lion hero status he and his moronic ugly girlfriend have carved out for him.

Still played well though, as usual.

oh look some retard read that bullshit piece by the Guardian's Paul Doyle. Rooney is anything but arrogant, and the idea that he bottles chances because of 'arrogance' is absurd, he fucks up chances cos he's lacking in confidence in front of goal and also because more often than not he isn't selfish enough and tries to play a team mate in with a cute ball.

As for the comments about his girlfiend, well she isn't my cup of tea but she isn't ugly and i don't really see what's moronic about her, infact she comes across as being pretty grounded for her age and smart enough to make some money of her own. Seems to me the anti Rooney and his girlfriend sentiment is rooted in a snobby classism, that people hate what Rooney has done for himself considering his background.

Personally I love Rooney as a player, think he's more central to Man United than Ronaldo and think he comes across very well in interviews, having matured a lot under Fergie's wing.

well spotted! Doyle isn't actually "the Guardian's" but anyway you have to wonder why he's such a poor finisher despite being such an incredibly talented player. The most simple view is that he's a bottler- this is caused by either insecurity or arrogance (or both). Does a lot more than score goals (or grannies) though, obviously.

Scripted interviews mean fuck all. They're both thick as shitty jam. Their combined IQ probably falls 2 standard deviations below the mean.

'Tis high time that a player .... any player .... from a top team was dismissed for dissent. I can't actually remember the last time it happened in ANY Premiership game. It seems to have become an accepted part of the game for players to say what they wish to referees.

Having watched that video, Bennett was fully within his rights to send Mascherano off. If he doesn't know why he's sent off, he must be even more stupid than the average Premiership footballer.
