i bought the guardian yesterday just for the dvd. heard lots about it, just not had chance to see it so far...

I only bought it a couple of months ago. Don't you just hate it when that happens. :)

Bought the Telegraph yesterday - had free DVD of Macbeth starring Sir Ian McKellen and Dame Judy D. Got to be good.

I know that the Kind Hearts DVD was actually in the paper, but does anyone know what the deal is with other films -- I thought I saw something about tokens/picking up DVD from Smiths or something?

I really would like the Terry Thomas film, plus the St Trinians One. In fact, most of them.

Out of those listed my faves are

Kind Hearts and Coronets, Passport to Pimlico, Ladykillers, The Lavender Hill Mob and the very wonderful School for Scoundrels (Terry Thomas at his best).

It could have been a good film if he'd dropped the whole stupid "eat a maccys every day" thing. Or even dropped the Macdonalds part altogether and made it about fast food in general. The thing with eating fast food all the time is sensationalist nonsense and it made MacDonalds out to be the source of all evil in the world, as if KFC or even your local kebab shop are any better

The problem there are people who eat mcvomit everyday. I heard my lowlife inbred cunt of a son in law and his wife telling their little boy once to 'eat your mcdonalds it's good for you'

I don't agree with eugenics but sometimes maybe some exceptions could be made  poor little bastards going to be dead by the time he's 40

And there was me thinking he was using Mcshite as an example about all fast food...

The point is that McDonald's were claiming their stuff was good for you. If you eat stuff that's good for you for a month, then your doctor shouldn't be begging you to stop in case you die. Nothing to do with a balanced diet: it wasn't what he was missing that was killing him, it was what he was eating.

Very funny film and the criticisms are misplaced.

Not entirely sure. MCds have never claimed that if you eat their stuff ALL the time it would be good for you and I believe that they have never claimed their food is a well presented and balanced diet for day in day out consumption.

Im sure that one off or the odd McDs isnt actually bad for you. Sure some food is fat laden and loads of sugar-but if you were to eat the occasional McDs in a porportioned and well balanced diet it wont be bad for you-hence the claim.

What I'm trying to say is salad can be good for you...but day in day out I wont be getting the correct balance of all the essential foodstuffs I need for a healthy lifestyle.
