Super League XIV

I've been watching the superleague show on iPlayer as I know very little about the other code, and for a moment I thought I saw Jason Robinson reborn in a St Helens shirt. Kyle Eastmond, as wide as he is tall, and a very, very good runner.

As an aside, this week's presenter sounds like a bloke.
(eta): the reason that the presenter sounding like a bloke was worth comment was because it was a woman. I think.

Yep, Eastmond really does look like a classy act. Unfortunately, that means we're probably looking at Stain's continuing to dominate for a few seasons to come yet...

We're going to Wem-ber-leee

great result, feel a bit daft for writing Warrington off at the start of the season, they clearly have balls of steel

Waiting for the missus to get back from her folks, so I have a choice - Charity Shield or St Helens vs Huddersfield.

Is it likely to be a good game?

I may - heaven forbid - drag out the video to record it.

Superb performance by the Giants. Made a lot of handling errors first half but tightened up in the second-their defence was key to the win though. The saints were throwing it all at them and they did a sterling job of holding them off.

My money is on the Giants win this year. The wind is in their sails. :)

what a great weekend of c/c rugby, both the underdogs performing well above themselves. who would've have predicted a wire-shuddders final?

I can live with losing to the better side, which Leeds probably were. But to have the grand final decided by an offside try is just sickening.Even Lee Smith looked embarrassed that it had been given. Not a great advert for video referees.

Well big up to Ganson for going to the video ref because it would've been well controversial if he had made the decision himself being from St Helens and that.

i thought leeds deserved the win tbh, regardless of any controversy (and don't forget ganson is from saint helens so you could easily make an argument that this is more of a talking point). but what a great game, really enjoyed that one i have to say, both sides played very well and although defence was at a premium, it was good seeing some of the plays going on. let's hope we get a different set of finallists next year is all....

Kicks off again tomorrow, although as a Union man there's no way I'm starting a whole new thread on it.

Anyway, is there likely to be any superleague in south Wales this time round? If so, is it actually worth going to?

I've never been to a live match and thought I'd maybe give it a punt.

crusaders are playing out of wrexham this year apparently. home game as well against the rhinos, who are defintely worth watching. so why not get along?

we've got wakefield trinity wildcats at 3pm on saturday, travel is already a nightmare of cancelled trains and closed stations, signed sod all in close season, lost 11 games on the bounce in 2nd half of last year.....

here we go!!!! :D

Bah, wrong end of Wales. Not really surprising though, nearer the League heartland.

I think Quins might be easier to get to. And it won't be Wrexham!

i'm surprised they've moved so readily out of bridgend tbh. after spending that time building the team and now they've just fucked off (altho they've promised to install a lower league team in place at the brewery). and widnes fans are a bit fucked off cos they didn't get a franchise cos of their proximity to sl clubs, when the new crusaders venue is as close as widnes are more or less....

i reckon quins are in for a rough ride, we've got a great coach but shite crowds and so no cash to keep/buy/develop decent players. i really hope i'm proved wrong this season, but i've been saying that for more than 10 years now....:)
