Super League XIV

yep, so are we, well and truly stomped by the giants yesterday. saints good value for their win today, amazed to see the bulls throw it away so badly. ah well, concentrate on the league as they say....

The Bulls should never have won that game in France a couple of weekends back, the Dragons got some righteous justice!

Wire have just off loaded Gleeson to the Pies, personally I can't say I'm gonna miss him only played when he felt like it, One of Briers' clique I'd like to see the back of him too

Here

Blimey, it's all going on. As well as Gleeson off the join the pies, Mathers has gone in the other direction to "restart" his career (again). Apparently Reardon is going to be sacked by the Wolves following his guilty plea to assault - in stark contrast to Leon Pryce i notice as well.

And poor old MacNamara has been given a vote of confidence by his chairman ahead of a meeting so he's probably not long for this world either.

CC 5th round draw made:

Gateshead v Oldham
Batley v Salford
Castleford v Halifax
Featherstone v Warrington
St Helens v Catalans Dragons
Huddersfield v Rochdale
Hull KR v Sheffield
Wakefield v Wigan

This makes me even more angry about the way we completely capitulated against the Giants on Saturday, they've got a peach of a draw and would be my tip as the only possible challengers to the Saints this time around.

Never write off Wigan ;)

i would rate hull kr and hudds as very decent contenders for the challenge cup final this year. the beauty of the draw of course is that leeds are out so at least we wont have a repeat of the likely superleague grand final. i'll go for kr seeming they sneaked past the mighty celtic!

Any of you quims fans down for the greatest derby in rugby league this monday? if so note that the trains between cardiff and bridgend will be severely disrupted by works over the easter weekend.
I know a few coaches have been arranged. personally im very excited by our first victory in superleague coming over the cockney bastards! :D
40-12 is my prediction.

Never write off Wigan ;)
the conversation watching the match tonight:
"Saints look knackered"
"yeah. Good job Wigan are shite." :D
although i must have been watching a different game to sky - Shaun Ainscough man of the match? Kyle Eastmond "the weak link"?

friad not. tbh with you, we didn't even make last night's game in the end. the thought of a 5-6 hour round trip and the likely loss (which sadly transpired) was too much to take at the start of our 5 day weekend.

which is a pity. i was hoping a mate would drive us over cos we made the trip across to brewery fields a couple of years back for the hull game and enjoyed ourselves. the way we been playing, i reckon you must be in with a shout, depends who deals best with the quick turnaround. so on that basis, i reckon we'll do you lot by 4 points :)

*optimistic*

Thought I'd never hear myself saying this but Saints had a few bad decisions against them last night, and yeah they did look knackered, Though I still wouldn't write off Wigan they always seem to play better in the cup :)

fucking beauty, we beat leeds :D

and the bulls did stains. strange times, last week i was about to give up we were so poor in 2nd half. fucking leeds we beat

Good result for the Bulls well done they dug deep and showed a lot of heart, That being said Saints have been playing really scrappy thier last couple of games

Strange but great game. Saints were just walking through the bulls for about 15 mins, scoring at will. I suppose relaxing in the 2nd half was inevitable, and at least the bradford players decided to show some sporting self respect. Julien Rinaldi looks a good buy. Hope bradford turn it round, ive always had a soft spot for them.

Another cracking win for the Wire, Whatever Smithy's saying to them in the dressing room is having a positive effect, The team's coming on leaps and bounds, A little hiccup in the 2nd half when Giants got thier 2nd try, I thought it was gonna be typical Wire run out of steam and let them back in the game, But the lads knuckled down for a well deserved win

anyone off to edinburgh next weekend then? we're not going to bother, we went across to cardiff for the last couple of years but can't find the time/money/inclination to make the trip from london to scotland tbh.

Anyone watch the Wire v Wigan match on sky last night? Cracking performance from the wire although in the first half they were a little on the back foot but even so the defence was outstanding, and the Morley/Carvell partnership IMHO the best 2 props in SL.

I was at the game so didn't hear any of the post match stuff on sky anywhere on the net I could listen?

Cheers Jeff

Leeds discipline last night was shocking leaking penalties all over the show and senior can't he hold a ball? We've got 'em next friday so I can expect they're gonna bounce back and muller us all over the park. :D

My clothes still aren't dry after watching the Saints-Wigan game on an uncovered terrace last night. Totally worth it though. The less said about Meli the better (FFS if there's 2 seconds to go and it's pissing down, don't try to pick the ball up in the in-goal area, just fucking hoof it), but what a little diamond Kyle Eastmond's turning out to be. Aside from the try and the fact that we've finally got a decent kicker, his tackling's hilarious - it's great watching him run headlong into the ankles of someone twice his size after Meli and Gardner have both failed to tackle him. :D

The rain stopped before the start of the Wire/Leeds match lat night, was well impressed with Warrington last night and truly believe the better team lost.
That said a couple of the Leeds tries came after some shocking errors from Wire , The Richie Mathers not clearing the ball in time comes to mind and we should have took the 2 when we got that penalty. And Sinfield the Twat misses 3 kicks from infront of the sticks but manages to score from the stands :( oh well such is life :)

yes, 2 great games on tv this week, and in both, the losing team could feel hard done by. quins leading the bulls by 10-4 atm, let's hope we can end our 6-match losing streak and creep back into the play-offs.

good news as well about the world cup being here in 2013
