Warrington have announced Tony Smith as the New Head of Coaching & Rugby with jimmy lowes as his understudy, It's gonna be the main topic on Radio Manchester Rugby League Extra tonight here

yeh, i was just reading that. if english rl won't relax his contract, they don't reckon he can start for 3 months either which may be a bit late in the day.

Indeed. Wolves need to do summat asap, they're plumbing the depths of underachievement at the moment.

Huddersfield Giants v Hull FC looks like it's gonna be a belter tonight, both sides playing high quality stuff at the moment. I'm a bit worried about the Crusaders v Saints tomorrow though, they're gonna be on the recieving end of a Hull KR backlash methinks.

I had the giants down to win but gave away too many penalties, silly mistakes, The bookies are giving the Crusaders 28 start although I doubt if Saints are gonna cover that

wouldnt be too sure. jace van dyke is out for a start. mind you its raining a bit so that might even things up a bit. im on my way to the game in a minute so my prediction: 8-36 to st helens, 4895 crowd. hope im wrong on both counts but the railway works on the line between cardiff and bridgend have one of the easiest and quickest one the slowest.

in other news i predict good things for harlequins rl!

he's gonna be doing both jobs http://www.sportinglife.com/rugbyle..._NAME=rleague/09/03/05/RUGBYL_Warrington.html

Paulie I'll be at the Stoop next weekend for the Wolves game maybe we get have a beer?
possible, we often don't arrive until much before kick off but maybe after the game? there's a bar under east stand, where they have a band and that. usually show the tv game as well.

fucking fantastic win we got over the reds on saturday, very encouraging by the sound of it. bit worried about getting wire on the bounce from leeds and tony smith in as coach, but should be a good game whatever happens.

great result for crusaders this weekend, still didn't win but that must have instilled some real confidence in them. enjoyed the shudders game against hull as well. wigan & bulls was almost painful to watch tho.

but the big question is who will Wath Brow Hornets draw in the CC? what a fantastic result for them (and how embarassing for the skolars :o)

so did you come down jeff? your mob were well and truly spanked. we had a 3-hour nightmare public transport journey there and some pints in whitton after.

we are the quins, we the quins, we are we are we are the quins!!! 60-8!!!! :D

Ryan Bailey what a guy elbows Fa'asavalu ( I Hate that Twat) says it was a shoulder barge

Tells Cunningham to "Fuck off you fat cunt"

mate it was a shoulder. love the fact that hits are legal in league rather then the pretending to wrap your arms nonsense in union. great atmosphere, decent game.

i see toulouse got nearly 2000 against sheffield today. good start and the score suggests a pretty close game. things are falling into place.

personally i would love to see (after much thought) the crusaders move to cardiff (but no name change) swansea be given a championship 1 side (something like the western warriors as a name) toulouse in the superleague, a paris team in championship 1, a merged calder valleys team (a no nonsense the good for the sport reason), salford demoted widnes promoted just because widnes are capable of being a big club despite their location, a championship 1 side in dublin and edinburgh.
then once the championship and championship 1 are strong enough with 4 extra teams (and hopefully a couple of midland teams) re-introduce promotion and relegation so that the blood can flow naturally with ambitous new clubs having a clear but not guaranteed route to the superleague.
Jobs a good un with hopefuly a strong wales, scotland, ireland and france to make a decent international competition.

very sad news tonight. a wakey academy boy died in the warm-up match so the celtic-wakefield match had to be cancelled as well. don't know anymore about what happened at this stage :(

Absolutely awful news,to have a player die is horrific but to lose two in 6 months is just unthinkable,i can't imagine how everyone at wakefield is feeling.

Tenders are invited for the job of explaining what the fuck Brian McDermott is on about here:

Some days are diamonds, some days are stones. This result was a huge stone.

Policemen sometimes make wrong arrests and we had 17 players who all had an off day at the same time.

Gawd bless him. :D

pretty awful sequence of events for john kear & co to deal with. makes you stand back from it all a bit to see a 20y/o lad getting done. thoughts out to family and friends. been on my mind all week, crazy stuff :(

Jesus Wakey have been having a bad time of it. Watene, this lad Leon Walker and 3 or 4 Wakey legends have all died in the last year. Lets hope this is all there bad luck out of the way from now into the far distant future. RIP and all that. :(

Anyone notice Bradford's last minute forward pass try to beat Catalans?! Things got a bit frisky in the crowd afterwards, the officials and Bulls players having to get a proper escort off the pitch as a hail of coke bottles and full paper beer cups started getting lobbed at them! The Frenchies were understandably not happy!

Brian McDermott is a northern equivalent to Ian Holloway in many ways.

They're a pretty passionate set of fans in Perpignan, we're hoping to get over there for our match there in July. And hopefully turn things around a great deal after getting stuffed by 40-odd points by Shudders...

Good win for the Quins on Saturday against Ull, impressed with the way that we steadily matched their forwards and then marched them down field. Danny Orr in the form of his life, Chad Randall is as quietly impressive as ever out of hooker and Rob Purdham played outstanding considering he needed a pain killing injection to play. Very emotional match on Friday, probably contributed to Wakey losing by the margin that they did.

T'was excellent indeed. I watched the 2nd half, quality display, nice to hear a lot of noise coming from the Harlequins fans too. Top fun.

Shame about Celtic, almost, but not quite getting a win at Warrington. But the game is played over 80 minutes, not 75 and they couldn't quite hack it.

Bit like Bradford, beaten by Cas who had to have the win of the round, 16 behind with 15 minutes to go and they win it 28-26.

BTW, can anyone else believe that Castleford, who play at the Jungle, do not run out to 'Welcome to the Jungle' by Guns and Roses? It's a fucking travesty.

Rugby league star Ben Cockayne is behind bars after a court heard details of his part in an "appalling" assault. The Hull KR fullback, 25, and Steven Hayward, 20, a part-time player with Castleford Tigers reserves, kicked and punched a man in Normanton in 2007. Cockayne, of Shaw Close, Normanton, and Hayward, of George Street, Altofts, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm last year.

The men were remanded in custody ahead of their sentencing on Thursday. The judge at Leeds Crown Court, Alistair McCallum, said he wanted more time to consider the sentences. He told the pair: "On the face of it at the moment I am thinking of a custodial sentence for both of you."
Beeb

Bloody hell, they're be no-one left to play at this rate, what with Leon Pryce and Stuey Reardon also under the threat of being banged up.
