letting your husband lie to the nation about 'not having sexual relations with that woman'?

.

Ah, so it's her fault he cheated and lied?!

There was a piece in the New York Times about Hillary hating and how rampant it is and unjustified. I tend to agree. When you hear about people disliking her, it's because of her hair, or the way she smiles, or what she's wearing, or what her husband did in the White House. Nothing to do with her and her policies.

They're a married couple and their marriage is between them.

You can't call it a dynasty, it's democracy and they're being elected, if that's what the people want then that's fair and square. And ffs they're not related by blood, they're married!

He's more iiberal than her. I've always liked him. I trust him - I dont trust the ole crocodile teared hill tho. He might be old, but he's generally voted for things i agree with.

Oh, right, does that include his argument with Thompson over who was more pro-life?

He's also tipped to choose Huckabee as his running mate!

Here's an example of how US morality works:

The Iran-Contra affair, which involved exchanging arms with an identified hostile regime, and involved corruption and bribery at the highest levels of the USG, took a couple of scalps and let the major perp - George Bush Snr, off the hook and the issue was never mentioned again.

Bill Clinton gets a consensually given BJ off an intern and has to spend 3 years of his Presidency subjected to a witch hunt over it.

The nonsense about OBama 'having integrity' - where does his money come from? The same fuckers that every over US polticians money comes from...

This is the main reason I couldn't really care less who wins the election, because whoever it is will get their mandate from corporations and think tanks, certainly not the people :(

Eh? Just because elections are involved doesnt mean they're not a Dynasty! just ask the Gandhi's.

Well they're in the same generation since they're married, so it doesn't count. It's not Chelsea who's running. :)

Why don't you like her?

I really don't understand where the venom for her comes from. She's been championing universal healthcare since long before it was popular. She's been great for New York (State, that is).

I haven't heard Obama take a stance on a single issue. He talks about change, but has failed to mention how he's going to effect it.

He abstained from voting in a majority of his elections as a state legislator in Illinois, which means we've no idea how he really feels.

I just think she's trying to get in on the back of her husband's success to be honest, and it seems a bit of a handy way of getting around term limits etc. i just find it a bit off that they're blatantly portraying themselves as "hillary and bill" like a dynasty, of some sort.

all that stuff about a woman president really isn't the issue here, it just seems to me that the only claim she's got to people's support is her husband and the campaign ads they've been using seem to back this up.

obama might not be very experienced but to be honest i would much rather prefer him in the white house, he seems a lot more normal than hilary :D

that's my shallow and probably really superficial impression anyway but i haven't really been following it. as for universal healthcare didn't even mitt romney introduce that in Mass.?

im hopin the reverse will be true tomorro morning. but i doubt it. americans are idiots. theyre fucking idiots. they deserve all they get after this... if they lose this opportunity to elect someone with as much integrity as obama... well.... fuck... they're fucking idiots. four more years of shite here we come.

Integrity?
Explain please. I think I must have missed something along the way.

Just as worthy as having the biggest mouths in the Kennedy family, Oprah Winfrey and Stevie fucking Wonder.

Already feels a little forgone with Democrats.

I'm already hoping that Hilldog will have the strategic sense to appoint Obama as vice-president tbh.

Not that she fucking will.

What are the main candidates standings on the issue of climate change. If they've said anything at all on it?

I sense a growing awareness and desire to do something from the US. Though not at the executive level. Could this change with any of the current candidates?

As far as I know there's been meaningless 'something must be done' blather from all concerned but I haven't heard any actual policies on the matter from anyone.

Why would she want to do that?
White House snapshot:

Hillary: What do you reckon we should do Barak?
Barak: Change things.
Hillary; What things
Barak; err things.

the guy makes cameron look a statesman.

Well you haven't looked too far have you?

FT blog on Hilary's CC plans

Hilary's Climate Change and Energy Plan..from her website...which is ludicrously detailed, contains actual targets and spending plans...hardly meaningless 'something must be done'...

Tell a lie, had to go to another website to find JMs proposals

Interestingly, I want Obama to win despite the fact I have no idea what he stands for. Apart from, obviously, 'change'

I don't suppose any candidate is interested in free healthcare, or even nationalised health insurance. I don't expect there's a candidate for the poor, or one standing for reducing corporate power or enforcing corporate responsibility. I don't suspect any of the candidates will take meaningful action to reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. I guess there's some kind of subconcious affirmative action going on in my head that makes me think that a black guy would be better no matter who he is or what he stands for. And maybe that's true, if only because any president will be as bad as any other and at least a black one will piss off a few racists :)

Innit - screwn $50bn out of the oil industry to 1/3 fnd a 10 year new technologies programme, 80% reduction by 2050, major player in Kyoto2...

There's a lot more detail of policies on her site than JM's. Might have to get over my probably superficial antithisis towards Clinton.

Amazingly, the write up on that Green mag website is more detailed than McCain.com! Maybe that's intentional tho...

Yeah. Seems more wishful thinking. Things they might expect to see in a fulll policy, given his speech in 2004. His own site is a bit lacking in concrete proposals. Catering for a different audience though innit.

Romney, yes, the nutter.

..err, Huckabee's the nutter, evangelical xtian, believes in the absolute truth of the bible, creationist, some gems from his website include...

"If we're going to spend $150 billion, I'd like to suggest that maybe we add two lanes of highway from Bangor all the way to Miami on I-95"

"I believe that Roe v. Wade should be over-turned."

"I am opposed to research on embryonic stem cells"

"I opposed the teachers' union and got the Fair Dismissal Law passed"

"My faith is my life - it defines me. I don't separate my faith from my personal and professional lives."

"End exemptions for Mexicans and Canadians to the US-VISIT program, which tracks the arrival and departure of foreign visitors"

"Globalization, done right, done fairly, can be the equivalent of a big pay raise by allowing us to buy things more cheaply"

"I am a steadfast supporter of Israel, our staunch ally in the War on Terror, the only fully-functioning democracy in the Middle East, and our greatest friend in that region"

"I consistently opposed banning assault weapons"

... Romney is sensible in comparison...

..... the big difference between the 2 is that Romney isn't going to make it to the White House, whereas Hackabee may get there as 'honest politician' McCain's running mate..

... be afraid, be very afraid....
