Sunday Brunch in Brixton / Herne Hill

I like Pullens. Sorry, but I do. Cafe Prov in H. Hill is nice too. Also the Lounge's new location is great, and it's really nice in the evenings for a glass or two of red and some tapas type food. Really relaxed and friendly. Neon does really good pizzas and used to do a special lunchtime deal which was a bit of a bargain.

Neon is so lacking in atmosphere I'd rather be out on the street any time (which is in fact a much more interesting place).

I went to Neon on my birthday. It was one of the worst meals I've ever been for. My friend's chicken was stone cold in the middle. They did replace it for free, but charged a service charge on its price. Cheeky cunts. My pasta was bland as fuck.

All style, no substance. Avoid.

Don't let Justin hear you say that.
To be fair the food is by no means the best thing about it. I tend to eat there when I've had to work an evening in the library and I can't be arsed to cook (or do anything but go up the pub).

I agree that Neon is not the best when it comes to ambience. But their pizzas really are good so I usually get them to take away. Haven't tried anything else.

The threads are different...the other one is about a meet up for a Sunday lunch type thing...

Considering you were willing to put in enough effort to find this thread - will you be in attendance?

Ah Bar

Haven't posted on this site for some time. I used to own and manage Ah Bar on Brixton hill but after some difficulties with the other owner I left and haven't been back since. Would love to know how it is doing as I am still a major share holder. If anyone has been down there lately let me know what you think. Always miss the regulars as well and if anyone out there remembers me do drop me an email x

We go to Goya-I-mean-Tomlins for Sunday Brunch sometimes; great roasts and rather nice breakfast stacks, too. Not bad vfm, we didn't think.

Thought this thread had died.

Pullens: Is the food any good? Is it reasonably priced? Does it fit in with a walk across the park on a Sunday morning? Yes. Its just another place to go. And it's long established.

God. It never occurred to me to worry about whether it was 'too' Herne Hillish slash Clapham or something REALLY awful like that. What must people be thinking

C Ya ;)

Talullah x

Went to the White Horse a couple of Sunday's ago - food's taken a nose dive. Don't bother if it's eating you're interested in.

Glad you had a good meal Blags.

First time we ate there, we were surprised - thought it was really good. They took care not to stew the veggies and all that. Home made mint sauce. Little touches - nice. Last time we went there, food was mushy and mean proportioned. We had to ask for more roast spuds and there was a pervasive Oxo flavour to the gravy. Maybe it was the new chef settling in - however, fact remains it was nowhere near as good as remembered when we went before. Perhaps it was an unlucky Sunday.

The Queen has some decent food now

Just a shame the actual pub itself and clientele has gone down itself compared to the great pub it once was before the new management took over and it was all spruced up :(
