Summer Heights High

but that's it. he's a nob, he acts like a nob, but he's also being treated unfairly by the system. the high incidence of 'island boys' in the lower literacy class... the painfully well-intentioned but wrongheaded 'Poly day'. it's clever because it invites you to laugh at him for a few weeks and then slowly reveals the truly awful nature of what's happening to him. without preaching, or offering trite solutions, or changing his comedic nob-persona.

while the morality of the writer becomes clear, it's still told in a realistically ambiguous way.

Totally agree - it's really cleverly done.. I think it's the last in the series - but the episode where Jonas is expelled and has a run in with one teacher (who completely loses it with him and belittles him in class) and a very emotional scene with another - that episode almost made me cry.

I liked Summer Heights High but the use of the kid with Down's Syndrome made me uncomfortable, especially towards the end when he's actually performing in the play. I know he was meant to be just another victim of Mr G's megalomania but it just felt a bit like the kid and his condition were being exploited for cheap laughs.
