Subterranean Rivers

Rather than start a new thread a quick bump, seeing as it's not previously mentioned. Accessable to the public, close to Bond St, in Grays Antiques is the river Tyburn

They are sewers now, though the brickwork tends to be quite nice. There are some excellent exploration reports of the Fleet on the 28DaysLater website.
 
Are they not just for rainwater? You can't have every day sewerage flowing into the Thames. Besides, we are getting the new super sewers soon, not that they will make a difference to the underground rivers.

From what I recall, most of the storm sewers - to draw off rainwater - overflow into the shit sewers, hence the Thames discharges just about every time there's a heavy storm.
