Substantial Reshaping of Brixton

A website will be a part, not the whole and not absent, of consultation on the 'reshaping of brixton' (as this thread titles it). It may not be what editor thinks it should be but it will try to be another way of accessing the information and expressing views.
That's quite a telling statement of Lambeth Council's "E-Democracy" policy.

Cllr Bottrall had his knackers chomped at the recent schools campaign meeting partly because he was a guest of the Campaign, the organisers of the meeting, not an organiser himself.

Because he was a guest of the meeting, and therefore had no control over the meeting's agenda, he was cut to pieces: he was unable to use the usual spin methods which politicians use when faced by a large, vocal and angry audience. (Their first and foremost tactic is to avoid, if politically at all possible, attending such meetings. Maybe Bottrall will have a conconvenient bout of flu in time for the next meeting.)

That's the danger of Lambeth Council doing "E-Democracy." They'll be thinking hard at this very moment on how the site can be spun so as to give them maximum control over the agenda.

Because, after all, what's the point of consultation unless you get the answer you want?
