Subforum - "party politics" - thoughts?

Just read your request, I'm stopping.

You could of course have said 'no more PMs please' in your replies to mine...

What you were replying with doesn't really mean a whole lot apart from the fact you want to shy away from the different things what I was PMing about.

For god's sake, can you lot stop fucking arguing? None of this has anything to do with the topic of the thread.
Next person to continue this - 24 hour ban.

I put this thread up for discussion of a subforum.

The more you lot abuse each other and try and drag these boards down to your tedious level of petty personal insults, the more I'm minded to permanently change things around here.

Just so you know what's going on, like.

(edit to add: I see Fridgie's equally pissed off too. You'd be wise to listen up as the boards are far bigger than the handful of individuals indulging in this dull bunfight)

Anarchism has become...not the theory of the struggling proletariat, but the ideological signboard of the counterrevolutionary lumpenproletariat, who, like a school of sharks, swarm in the wake of the battleship of the revolution.

I think U75 Politics forum is destined to remain a bit like a 'school of sharks' swarming in the wake of the SWP 'battleship of the revolution' ain't it?

The server itself appears to rarely be under strain - it's more the amount of bandwidth that is such a problem.

The new servers from exonetrics seem to be extremely stable - and according to tech man Kameron in coversation during the time of the changeover - are capable of dealing with things much larger than urban is with space to spare for significant growth in the future.

Thanx for the info the B (sorry if I've derailed slightly :o )

The idea is a nice one, but then again you'd probably get people from sports demanding an entirely seperate football forum or suburban demanding an ASDA forum.

Mayeb it's time to cull one forum, just for bandwith purposes, I guess it'd be New York, if the choice got democratic, though I don't see why so many are desperate for that forum to fail, I quite like

what? you quite like what?

The idea of controlling the politics forums by constantly splitting them into more and more subsections in the hope that they will eventuallly be controllable by their own irrelevance is one that I believe is well past it. What rapidly starts to happen is that the only people who continue to post regularly is the uber posters who are willing to spread themselves across all forums . It really is a case of diminishing returns.

I'm in favour of a forum or sub-forum for the people - supporters of Trotsky, anarchists, whoever - who are primarily interested in discussing each other's policies/actions/internal workings or personalities. This might be called "Parties/Anarchist Groups/Campaigns" to ensure all voices are heard.

I know there are some people who do wish to focus on machinations between individual groups, and that's fine. There are also some who don't - for instance, the middle eastern forum (where I sometimes post) is as far as I can make out not concerned primarily with sectarian matters, but it's still a place to debate conflicting views.

A problem I realise is that it would be so difficult to moderate when to "kick" a debate into the sub-forum, as a sectarian might actually try to get a particular thread "kicked".

In what way would it do that? How are people prevented from posting threads which are "relevant" at the moment? Who made you the arbiter of relevance anyway?

And did you bother to read the thread before posting?

Rubbish idea, as agreed by all the posters on UKP+P apart from 'the b' whose speciality is thatcherite economics and 'threadkiller' threads, and now this right-winger called invisi
