'stylish/special' hot fork buffet?

BTW Rollem, what sort of food does this pub usually do?

If they're buying it it or cooking it themselves, it may be more prudent to stay with what they know.

Feck off, us cockneys had pie shops all around and piemen wandering the streets of London before the folks of the North could even string a coherent sentence together.

Pah. Only Northerners could take so much pride in a food that Londoners had for generations before. Give it another century or so and you'll be claiming jellied eels and pickled eggs as your own.

:p
Hardly - vile things that do funny things to your vowels :p

I'm not disputing pie history, but I've never been to a wedding in London where the pie is quite so central to the catering as it can be up here :D

Standard buffet for weddings in my family:

Before the main buffet is served, there'll be either green chutney sandwiches or rainbow sandwiches (triple decker sandwiches of green chutney, some kind of fish paste thing and some tomatoey spread - tis very yucky :o), then beef croquettes, samosas and vol au vent cases (very traditional :p) filled with curried prawns or some kind of fish filling.

Main buffet will have things like sorpatal, lamb xacuti, pulao rice, chicken curry, dhal or some kind of bean curry, and a couple of veg curries. Might get some kind of fish curry if you're lucky. Nowadays, we get some salads. Also, there may be little bits of foods like chicken nuggets and chips for the kids who don't eat spicy stuff in addition.

curry is off. no curry will be served where a white(ish) dress is being worn  :D
