really? that seems very counter productive.

how odd. most workplaces i've worked in like that (and there have been a few) have been the result of incompetent management (plus the poor wages & working conditions thing) rather than intentionally encouraging a sullen, useless workforce...

I think many employers actually prefer a workforce that backstabs each other, crawls to the bosses and is generally in fear of each-other. Divide-and-rule, and such.

I wouldn't be surprised.

Speaking as somebody who has run the practical side to a fair few of these things now, in my days as a bored office type, I would have loved the chance to be let out to play for the day.

These things that people hate must be run really really badly to be preferable to day behind a PC at work.

Once very 3 months I ma obliged to have a team time session. On the agenda is a 'fun ' theme, where someone is invited to come up with a 'learning' experience in a light hearted way Nothing worse imo than having to have compulsory fun!
