right...with the way art and design are heading, the majority of people achieving success will be the ones with money or the ones who can generate enough press by whatever means necessary. Art has become more about the verbal bullshit surrounding it than the actual craft skills of drawing, sculpting, painting, etc,etc... Is there anything that an artist can do that will move or shock people into some kind of reaction or are we all far too intune with the way we can be manipulated by 'artists'?

I think that is their whole point boohoo

Down with conceptualism, up with craft!! :D

as a architecture observer, it is disappointing to see the reduction of the use of crafts on buildings - eg ceramic tiles, carving - wood/ brick, stain glass. Most people are not being trained to have these skills and there probably isn't opportunity for them to use them anyway. Up with technical skills!!

Marinetti and some other Italians who sound like pasta...led to some of the ideas behind fascism...

I was thinking of this guy:

(that took me fecking ages to remember)

Alot of fascist ideals are born out of the nationalists futurist ethos :(

Not really funny to take the piss out of masectomies firky

i thought you didn't get offended on other people's behalf? ;)

TBH all the lasses I know who've had mastectomies always joke about it themselves. Used to work with a woman who had both her boobs lopped off and she told me that I would never get on her tits :D

She was a top woman!

re. Sam Taylor -Wood.....no, maybe not...she's definitely not lesbian....she's got lots of gay mates though

Didn't she do that photo of Morpheus from the Matrix with a white halo around his head? I didn't like that. Saw it in the White Cube, just looked like something a Time Out in house photographer would of done. Good idea poorly executed.

Oddly enough I thought that scene in the last episode of the Royale Family was very pre-raphaelite and would of worked just as well as a photo. The one where nana had her curlers in and the wife was doing her hair. The sun was shining through the window into her curlers creating a iridescent halo from the platic curlers on her head. Amazing bit of cinematography. I guess it had to be very good as the camera was fixed and never moved so had to work as a photo / painting.

I like this thread :)

edit to add:

Here's the Morpheus pic:

Was done for a series, she used a load of celebs.

No it's not her Mrs M *sobs* I'm sure I'll find it though :D

No wait! Angela someone-or-other who also calls herself Cinderella Snow White Smith....She's bisexual I think......

It was a series on fampous people though, I think she used 6 in all.

I don't think the 'angel' thing with LF was intentional, but it could have been better executed and 'used' for want of a better word.

On the flip side maybe she only wanted to hint at the religious thing in this picture?

What do you reckon?:)

Jo Spence. How is being lesbian relevant?

I meant to come back and correct myself...but now I'm as confused as you Leica..

Actually...no I'm not...it's jus a sexual pigeon-holeing for descriptive purposes...guess it has no relevance at all if that person does not use their sexuality in their defining of themselves.

Cept she's dead.

And it was Taylor_wozzit i was trying to mention.

Except are you stating Jo Spence as a conceptual pohtographer...and the question about being a lesbian is another issue/enquiry?

Why shouldn't it be?

And in this case I'm not talking about her anyway.

I cant put my finger on who it is :(

It'll come to me one day:cool:
