Clearly you're not aware of what a big international fuck-fest modern anarchism actually is.

No. it's about new politics.

What a load of kak! It's about trying to gang up like a group of nazi thugs and stifle free speech. As well as saying "It is ok to think that way, as long as you agree with ME". I am sorry but I do not want to live in a Stalinist type state.

YOu fool - we are Anti State communists:p

There is the great new magazine Mayday which has something to say on Strategy and tactics:D The Introduction/open letter to the movement, autonomous anti fascism and the 40 years of the left review all have things to say which are relevant for this thread.

Now now. We are trying to go beyond ad hominem attacks:)

But not ideological purity in some cases...not too sure exactly *why* using modern telecomms would be such bad thing but hey, you know...

It is about practical results. What are the practical consequences of our beliefs? How do your ideas get translated into reality?

[1] If the movement can get the numbers of people involved and active, it will begin to make progress.

[2] With the numbers of people involved, raising the money to build the infrastructure will be possible. (internet web sites, publications, bookfairs, meetings, protest events, conferences etc).

[3] Raising the quality of political activity will draw more people in to the movement.

The movement is fragmented because there is little sense of progress to it. Success breeds success. People are uncertain and so try to go in different directions.

People from outside the movement judge it by its results. What can you tell them about the success of the anarchist movement, that will encourage them to join?

Why is the UK scene so bad?

Even in the USA whose libertarian movements have their leaders killed, can have a get together and talk about serious politics. In the UK there are no class struggle forums (clue - the web don't count coz its virtual) where politics can be discussed sensibly. Instead, petulance rules the roost and the tyranny of the self selected in crowd.

The IWW global conference in London in August will probably see some discussions, but there is a desperate need for more politics not less, without preconditions or predetermined positions...

north america / mexico / anarchist movement / anarchist communist event

Monday July 7th, 7pm
Arise! Bookstore
2441 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN USA

From May 31st to June 1st, 2008 over one hundred activists from three generations of Anarchist organizing across North America gathered to explore common ground.
Organizers from the Northeastern Federation of Anarcho-Communists (NEFAC), Workers Solidarity Alliance, Industrial Workers of the World, Solidarity & Defense, Capital Terminus Collective, Amanecer, Class Action Alliance, Michigan-Minnesota Group, Anti-Racist Action, the (now defunct) Love and Rage Anarchist Federation, and even a former member of the Mujeres Libres of the Spanish CNT attended. We discussed organizing experiences in the community, workplace, and various social movements with a focus on the role of race and gender within the movement.

Two Twin Cities residents attended the conference, and will share their experiences at this event. We hope our presentation will spark discussion of the current status and future potential of Anarchist organizing locally.

Even in the USA whose libertarian movements have their leaders killed...

I know anarchists are suspicious of ideas of leadership, but that seems a bit OTT.

Good thing it doesn't happen over here, eh, Doc? You'd be a gonna, a leading light like you.
