Get your head down mate. I'm not the enemy I'm just pointing out some holes in your argument. Maybe you need to get out a bit more. Urban is so incestuous.
You've poined out nothing john - smoke'em if you got 'em.

You've said nowt, you've hinted at plenty - so come say something.

Sit down by the fire
And I'll tell you a story
To send you away to your bed
Of the things you hear creeping
When everyone's sleeping
And you wish you were out here instead

It isn't the mice in the wall
It isn't the wind in the well
But each night they march
Out of that hole in the wall
Passing through on their way
Out of hell

They're the things that you see
When you wake up and scream
The cold things that follow you
Down the Boreen
They live in the small ring of trees on the hill
Up at the top of the field

And they dance on the rain
And they dance on the wind
They tap on the window
When no-one is in
And if ever you see them

Pretend that you're dead
Or they'll bite off your head
They'll rip out your liver
And dance on your neck
They dance on your head
They dance on your chest
They give you the cramp
And the cholic for jest

They're the things that you see
When you wake up and scream
The cold things that follow you
Down the Boreen
They live in the small ring of trees on the hill
Up at the top of the field

They play on the wind
They sing on the rain
They dance on your eyes
They dance in your brain
Remember this place
It is damp and it's cold
The best place on earth
But it's dark and it's old
So lie near the wall
And cover your head
Good night and God bless,
Now fuck off to bed

I victory for the muslim working class in Tower Hamlets- sending out the message to Tony that the electorate no longer trust him. Hoorah....
Didn't you suggest voting IWCA butchers- I'm suprised you are now saying you'd never vote?

Nope you will not find me saying that -i t's a bit of a disagreement between me and my mnates - but i never did.

There is no problemn with this being my position and the IWCAs. The iWCA is not one homogenous whole that all must do...

if respects victories are all going to be in muslim areas then surely the end result is going to be that the muslim councillors will eventually just break off from the SWP fuerers and have their own all muslim party where they will never have to 'take orders from women' and can be specifically anti gay rather than exist in the state of denial that both of this 'odd couple' now exhibit.

wibble- are you suggesting that all muslims are misogynistic homophobes?
If I was to say that about the working classes in this country then I'd be rightly attacked just as I would if I suggested that that all Xstians are anti-abortionists.
FFS grow up and realise that your attitudes increase further sectarianism amongst moderate muslims...
Out of interest do you get these opinions from the Hate Mail or can you make up your own mind on these issues?

butchers - would I be right in assuming we should forget your posts from c.1.30 a.m. last night, as being somewhat over-imbibed? they don't make a hoge load of sense right now.

What a result!!! What a night!!!!

What a marvellous night. I went down a few times to help out and of course was there yesterday pounding the streets. The atmosphere around the polling stations was buzzing with youngsters chanting Respect and "All the way Galloway". Absolutely thrilled when a group of Respect supporters bowled over the road to the Restaurant on Commercial Road to givve us the news. The cheering just increased when Oliur entered and said it was a good job he didn't drink otherwise we'd have a hefty bar bill!!!

Labour were out in force yesterday - loads of Newham councillors on top of the Tower Hamlets ones - fat lot of good that did them - their vote collapsed - THIRD a good 300 votes behind Respect. Oona King tried to look calm but wasn't managing it, most of the young first-time Bengali voters asked me who she is - answer : very soon a nobody.

This is a nice little dent in Blair's plans to carry on regardless with the occupation, attacks on civil servants and privatisation. There will be a good few MPs (not least Dr King and Jim Fitzpatrick and those in Newham) that'll be looking over their shoulder now.

Its also significant when you think that 10 years ago, disillusioned voters put their cross for the Nazis in Tower Hamlets, it is testimony to the left and in particular the appeal of Respect that we've shifted the tide our way. For the record the Nazis - the NF - came last with 172 votes.

christ, the capacity for self-delusion of the swappies is truly awe-inspiring. In ONE - predominantly muslim - ward in a council where Labour have grown bloated and lazy through decades of power - you managed to get 878 voters to give you a chance. I'd be VERY interested in the %age of those who WEREN'T muslim.
The muslim community will meekly follow clerics' orders only for so long - I'd say till the first external manifestation of RESPECT's unviability.
when you get REAL breakthroughs in wards/constituencies where the white (or black i.e. afro-caribbean/african in origin) w/c predominate, then I'll take you seriously.

So muslims can't vote on a class basis. Even when the candidate says stuff like:

"The Private Finance Initiative is being introduced in local schools,
which people are angry about. And we have been raising the issue of
the firefighters.

Two firefighters were killed in Bethnal Green last week but the
government still won't give them a decent wage.

We say the government has money for wars and not for firefighters
and schools."

i would have to agree mostly with jay emm, while i don't see this as any sort of victory for the working class - i'd say give the new councillor a chance he is a socialist the question is whether he will sell out his politics for the sake of mosque votes

Still happy - despite parade-pissers

"Blackie"(sic)? That's a wee bit derogatory, if I'm being generous. What is also quite insulting are the amount of posts, like yours "Red" Jezza that seem to think that Muslims vote in a homogeneous block, as if there are no class divisions or conflicting interests inside the Muslim community. As if there's no tension between the elders and those that have swallowed the New labour project to maintain the cushy numbers their paymasters have delivered them on one side and ordinary folk, like Oliur, who have to do a proper job (low paid and insecure at that) on the other.

Is it not cause for celebration that our class put one over on theirs? Actually, I don't know about you, pal, but class is the key to this - and yes the ward has a high Bengali population, but Oliur made it clear that he would be a voice for all those that have suffered under New Labour's handouts to consultants, the closing of Dame Colet House, the money spent on war that could ensure that pensioners could be lifted from poverty.

Shouldn't the left be happy that career politicians like King and Fitzpatrick are not enjoying their day? That they may be a little preoccupied with their futures?

You also seem to think that these Muslim voters don't matter, again this is incredibly insulting. Those that voted for Respect were in the main part of our class and shown that they are willing to step aside from the Muslim unity preached at them by elders and Labour bureaucrats (if you had have turned up the polling stations yesterday you would have noticed that the highest proportion of Asian leafleters were with Labour and Lib Dems, Respect was by far outnumbered on that score). And I've always sided with our class, whatever their background.

So Not-So-Red Jezza, a word of advice, before you start sticking the boot into Respect, be a little more careful with how you do it, because frankly some of it borders on the racist, and then maybe real people might take you seriously.
