Its a fucking mans game you cheating arrogant baldy fucking incestous little wanker

That was a yellow card at the most, even the Arsenal players looked to agree, Wenger looked embarassed

Edit to add

This chap is a rather poor official one feels

he was a fucking disaster.
and gilberto deserves some condemnation for the acting that led to it.
if there was an assesor there they have to have words.
bennett is from Orpington = biased. he's screwed us before when we were playing spurs.

How does coming from orpington make him biased

orpington is in kent btw

south. that's sufficient for me. ;)

anyway, lets look at it objectively. Jenas makes a tackle, takes the ball gets up and continues. gilberto goes down thatrically, Jenas came in from behind as Gilberto turned his back to the tackler. bennet couldn't see properly, gets no help from his assistant, see gilberto collapse and sends JJ off. Ridiculous.

Onto the actual game.

Arsenal were piss poor...or where we surprisingly better than we thought. I dunno.

Hard to tell.

However, Man Utd could fancy themselves this season, they've been the most convincing thus far. Arsenal were rank

fot eh first time in a couple of seasons it looks like we might have a midfield that other teams don't just walk through/ Parker put himself about in a way we not seen by black and white stripes for years.

man Utd were alright, but chelsea showed they still have the ability to win in the alst minute. Crespo v Johansson, shows what a difference money can make.

We had heart. Souness trait. Can be implied as 'we can kick' but to be fair Arsenal and Man Utd have done it for years.

We lost, Souey took a strop and Bennett screwed us again (its a contact sport right?) Why do the baldy gits like him and Barry Knight hate us so much

jenas came in and sythed gilberto down(who landed fucking harshly if you look at the way his knee bent) and it was split legged by jenas with both of his legs wrapping round one of gilbertos.

It was a nasty challenge if he had been given a yellow i would have said fair enough but a red wasn't exactly that shocking. Bout as bad as dioufs was from staurday and the commentaors were saying he wouldn't have had cause for complaints if he had been sent off.

Are you related to Neil Warnock by any chance!?!?!

The tackle is borderline until Jenas's second leg comes through and goes through Gilberto's standing leg, trapping it against his (Jenas's) tackling leg. Looked like a yellow on first viewing and then with a different camera angle that little (ahem) subtlety becomes obvious, which pushes it from reckless and yellow for unsporting behaviour into excessive force and red for serious foul play.

It may be a man's game, but in my experience men prefer to play it without worrying about whether their opponents are going to break their legs in the name of tackling.

bollocks, Jenas's second leg does not touch Gilberto, Jenas manages to keep that leg wide and instead gets Gilbertos leg between his own legs, putting his manhood on the line with a fine tackle.

no doubt you think that was a penalty n'all.

I wasn't sure until Graeme Le Saux popped up on MotD 2 and pointed out how N'Zogbia's left arm sneaks across and gives Ljungberg a shove, which throws him off balance and causes him to stub his toe and then fall over. It's something that's very hard to see until you look for it, and then it's blatantly obvious.

a shove? there was contact, but a shove? i don't think so... Ljungberg went down like a rent boy.

MotD is no better than the shite that was the Premiership, and the less said about Le Saux the better.

and what about the foul on Dyer?

Don't know what you're talking about. I was watching the cricket for the most part and pretty much missed all the major incidents until highlights (which I watched on Sky and then the BBC), and they didn't show anything with Dyer in.

the only thing in danger here is Jenas's knackers.

nice view of the incident for the ref...

Misleading. You can't see what happens in the next second, which is him continuing to slide through, with his right leg going through the back of Gilberto's standing leg and trapping it against his right.

Do you have stairs in your house? I've seen that picture before (except it's been made smaller) and I said to it then exactly what I'm going to say now: Uncle Steve is a tall bloke who can see over people's heads.

Jenas has clearly won the ball!

of course he is going to continue and slide (that's physics!), but you can see that Jenas is keeping his trailing leg out and away from the tackle, as is proved on the lower picture, his foot is nowhere near Gilberto.

Irrelevant. Sorry, but it is. A tackle committed with excessive force is serious foul play no matter whether it wins the ball at some point or not.

The trailing leg is not doing anything at that instant. If you're trying to say that because he then gets the ball it doesn't matter what his legs do next because he's already played the ball, it doesn't work like that. His trailing leg proceeds (after the ball has been won) to go through the back of Gilberto's standing leg and then pins it against the leg that has just won the ball. That is what matters and the fact that the tackle also happened to win the ball prior to it is as irrelevant as what he had for breakfast.

Are we gonna have one of these threads everytime someone gets sent off?!

Only as long as the footballing public at large doesn't know what it's talking about.

So, that'll be from here to eternity, then.

Also, if it does end up like that, I think I'm going to start flaming indiscriminately every time one of them makes page 2.

A similar thing happened to me in a game - a bloke challenged for the ball - studs up, but he landed on the ball, needless to say my ankle crumpled. But the attacker got the ball - I started to kick off about it - but then I wasn't sure about the rules - so just zipped it.

looks like the FA think your talking shit as well then.

........

The Football Association can confirm that Jermaine Jenas's dismissal during the Arsenal v Newcastle United match on Sunday, 14 August has been reduced to a caution.
Having reviewed a video of the incident, match referee Steve Bennett requested that the red card be downgraded to a yellow card.

In accordance with FA rules, the matter was considered by a Disciplinary Commission which confirmed the decision.

Jenas will therefore not serve any suspension

........

your not a referee or a gooner by any chance?

Either way, it was a dubious decision and the red card has since been reduced to a yellow. What it did was to entirely change the nature of the game, and tun it from what was looking like an interestin, entertaining and equal contest into a vakliant rearguard action. And still the Arse (nal) couldn't break through until the dodgy penalty.

Yes Steve Bennet is a Grade-A numpty. However, we were just unlucky. It's intersting to see that insetead of simply bending over to take our spanking, we fought tooth and nail, and looked good for a point until the 81st minute. Small comfort I know, but I'll take what I can get thanks...
