Stephen King's 'IT' to be re-remade into a film

I've not read the book... I was one of those terrified kids watched on TV home alone age about 13. It scared the fuck outta me and although I just watched the trailer I shan't be seeing the new version

Nope, nope, nope.

Will still watch and give myself nightmares.

But nope.

Really well put together trailer though, the cinematography looks spot on and the projector scene looks like a great scene.

Nope, though.

Although quite long, the book was pretty good until it got to the child gangbang... "How can we make ourselves stronger to defeat the monster in battle? Oh I know! Let's all take turns to shag our female friend here".

looks like this is focusing entirely on the kids, no grown up 'losers club'. Thats fine by me. Might make this one a cinema trip, just take my 'combat diapers' with me
There will be a sequel for the adult part of the story

You know I really don't remember that bit in the one I watched

I know there have been far more recent posts about the upcoming film on a different thread but thanks to the limitations of the search feature, searching for "It" is hopeless.

First reviews are out and it seems to be a like-it-or-hate-it affair. That's fine with me. Rogue One got the same kind of Marmite reaction and I loved it. Far better than getting a consensus 2-3 star rating across the board, which almost invariably suggests mediocrity.

It's a very decent adaptation. I'm too old to suffer much in the way of movie scares but most of the audience were certainly affected.

It's absolutely at its strongest showing the relationships between the Losers. King's at his best with kids. Showing the real life horrors of bullying, racism and other stuff mixed in with a horror story, they find strength in each other and subsequently themselves. (Except for Stan of course.)

Pennywise is suitably scary, full of teeth and deadlights whilst occasionally mixing in some Sadako-like body movement.

It's not perfect, King is incredibly hard to transfer to the screen, but it's a top notch attempt. Plenty of easter eggs if you keep an eye out.

A new generation has been introduced to coulrophobia.

Mark Kermode gave it a good review on the box last night. Said it was good on all the stuff that Dexter mentions above. Likened it to Stand By Me. I might give this a go - I hope they've done something about the ridiculous ending though. I thought that was daft even when I was a kid.

I watched IT yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it though I do prefer the original probably because I watched it so much as a kid.

Just got back, and I really enjoyed that. A great piece of entertainment. Absolutely trading on that retro 80s thing that fuelled Stranger Things and nailing it completely.

I've never read the book, or seen the original mini series, so completely new for me. I thought it was a great fun 'horror' film.

I fully expect most of the cast to go on to great things.

Saw it in the cinema, tuesday afternoon no one else was there, imagine an empty 200 seat cinema.

Got settled and about 30 minuets in, an employee stops by where i am sitting and taps my shoulder I jumped about 5 feet.

No-way I could have done that! I often go to flicks solo but don't think I have ever been fully alone but could not have gone solo to watch IT even though I watched the original many times.

I think the staff who work there do it on purpose.

It was creepy though, I even sat near the exit.

It's a pity you weren't watching a porn flick instead, as you could have had a relaxing wank without worrying about being disturbed.

Already posted it in the Horror films thread but it deserves a repost here. The first teaser trailer of ‘IT: Chapter 2’ has just been released and it is very promising indeed. And one or two things shown are well fucking creepy, and all without relying on cliched jump scare scenes.

I’m properly looking forward to this :)
